Let’s talk late season tomatoes. If you were able to keep your tomato plants alive during the brutal dry heatwave, they should now be responding to the cooler weather. Keep them watered and maybe a little fertilizer that is not to nitrogen hot. Nitrogen will make them grow while right now we want them to load. Be looking for blooms, that means they are trying to load. Be aware with the cooler weather it will take longer for the tomatoes to ripen. Right before the first predicted freeze, you can pick the larger green tomatoes to ripen and the smaller ones to make chow-chow. Let’s Garden Successfully!

The signs says 7:00 but with the shorter days, we will close today around 6:30. I will have a nice selection of squash, okra, and peppers. Unfortunately Brent with the local raised beef will not be at the market today. The season is coming to a close, get fresh veggies while I still have them. I am not sure how many vendors will be at the Jones Haskell Farmers Market in Stamford tomorrow Tuesday, October 13. I know Brent with local raised beef has a scheduling conflict but I will be set up with some fresh squash, okra, and peppers. It’s a beautiful day for a farmers market, in fact the Jones Haskell Farmers Market will be open this afternoon Tuesday, October 6th from 4:00 until about 6:30 at 501 N Swenson Street in Stamford. Veggies will include squash, some okra, hot and mild peppers. Other products will include local raised beef, homemade bread, and handicrafts. Shop your local farmers market in Stamford this afternoon.

The Jones Haskell Farmers Market would like to announce a new vendor Dumbie Crafts that will join us tomorrow (Tuesday, October 6th) in Stamford at 501 N Swenson Street. Handicrafts, homemade baked good (you just have got to try the chocolate chip cookies) local raised beef, and veggies. 4:00 until about 6:30.

Beautiful day for the Jones Haskell Farmers Market in Anson today, Thursday, October 1 on the east side of the square from 4:00 until about 6:30. Squash, okra, peppers, canned goods and I am not sure what else. Please note the earlier closing time of about 6:30.
