This was such a fun day! June 17th, 2023
I showed in Lebanon, Indiana and won BOB/BOV black, BOV chocolate and a blue I sold to My Father's Refuge Farm won BOV blue. All in the same show, all intermediate does by weight

Cassandra went on to win 6 more legs, best chocolate senior doe at two separate conventions and best chocolate senior at one.
She was culled this month at the age of 3 years and 3 months. She was unable to feed her last litter and had missed a few times since then. She generally had a harder time in the summer and with her age I made the decision to cull. Her uterus had one side swollen and completely filled with fluid.

It's time! First attempt 😍😍😍

Cheese is something we hadn't ventured into with our milk, UNTIL now! Mozzarella for dinner and ricotta from the whey for tomorrow.

Big night for these two leading into a big morning for me tomorrow 🐂🐂🥛🥛

I'll be milking two cows in the morning for the first time! Sásta is an old hat at the process but this will be Quinn's first time having been separated from her calf all night.

I'm very excited to see what Quinn's udder looks like filled in the morning. With her being a first freshener, her production is definitely lower and her bull calf has kept her emptied. We'll be noting what her production is but not expecting too much out of her first freshening either.

It's just a super happy mail kind of day!!!
These beautiful eggs came in today all the way from Crooked Arrow Ranch! Look at the ombre olives! Pictures of eggs I'm learning are so hard to convey true color. Suffice to say, my pictures do not do them Justice!

Oh the smell of this order when it comes in! This is the largest order we have made to date from Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC. We are fine tuning what we like now and ordering more bulk of the favorites 🤎🤎🤎
They don't pay us by the way, I just love their coffee!

A few reminders as we head into a heat wave:
~Keep waters filled and fresh
~Pull extra hair out of nest boxes
~Collect eggs quickly
~Keep air flowing wherever possible and double shade if possible as well
~Feed at evening or morning
