Every June I recognize my Brazilian heritage and celebrate São João. A little early this year because I couldn’t wait… It takes me back to Maceió on a June day in the early 00s.

Borrego, peixe, milho, queijo fundido, e cebolas em conserva. 🤗🇧🇷

The only thing that’s missing is a crispy can of Guaraná Antarctica, out of a straw of course.

Maybe next year everything on this plate will be straight from our garden! 🤞

Weekend plans! 🐻
We will hold our usual gym staffed hours Saturday 8-11 with Saturday morning yoga class at 8am with 's Tylir! We will also hold our Sunday HYROX class at 7am.
Stanardsville will host the Farmer's Market starting at 9 and the Black Bear Festival from 10a-4p on Main Street - come out and support some great local vendors! Reminder that Main St will be closed from the Lafayette to the shopping center.

I’d like to catch a break from being at the vet every week.

It seems no matter how good your animal husbandry is, you can’t prevent everything.

It’s been years since we have been hit with a wave of animal emergencies and it seems like that wave isn’t quite over…

We were at one vet or another every week, sometimes twice a week, the entire month of May. Which seems like it is bleeding into June 😅

The last addition to The Ridge (for awhile I hope)!

My parents’ chicken coop has made its way to us and will be converted to a potting shed, possibly even a little micro fiber mill!

Lots of possibilities and an addition we really did need to open up more space for projects as our micro farm evolves. 🤗

Just a typical day on The Ridge catching yet another swarm… except this one didn’t start so smoothly 😅 Whoops! At least we caught them and hopefully they’ll stick around.

I really didn’t want more hives to tend to, but that’s the way it goes with bees. They’re worse than rabbits! And it beats the alternative of hives that aren’t thriving.
