New York State Sheep and Wool 2025 in Rhinebeck NY was a whirlwind weekend. If I didn't get to see you, let's make time this winter. It is important.
These are my Fiber arts entries that took home some ribbons at the festival. I'm so honored to take home some blues. Each of these took hours and hours to make and really, each of them has a bit of my heart and soul invested in it.
About that hooked rug. I thought a bit ( almost a year) about the design before starting it. Rugs are a long process so I wanted to be well prepared and come up with an original design I loved. My hooking friends might recall that design process took a while but once started the hooking, I was dedicated to it...choosing each color as I hooked it.
It includes upholstery wool from an old armchair, outdated clothing, wool pieces I bought decades ago, wools I naturally dyed with the late Bonnie Warwick, wools I naturally dyed with black walnut, onion skins, Himalayan rubarb and cosmos at the Dutchess County Fair with the Elmendorph spinners, wools I acid dyed on the farm and wools that several another fiber artists generously gifted me ( you know who you are- THANK YOU).

So excited! After a few years of not having any fleeces to enter at Rhinebeck, one of the Point of View Farm fleeces won first place medium natural colored this year! I only found out AFTER the festival. So excited for our farm team who works hard all year long to make sure our finns are healthy happy wool growing lovlies. I have two spectacular brown fleeces available. One almost 3 pounds and the other, darker, almost 4 #. Both have blond tips. If you want, I can split them in 1/2.

Some new pretty hand spun yarns drying for the Point of View Farm booth at New York State Sheep and Wool Festival in Rhinebeck Oct 19-20th. It's so exciting. The colorful leaves start to fall and we finish up the last of our super special things to delight you for our favorite event of the entire year. This year we'll have many handspun yarns, new lamb sausage flavors and a gallery area full of my needle felt art as well as old favorites of sheepskins, yarns, roving and more.... Find us in booth 22D 3-4.

Ahhhh, fall pastures. The sheep are grazing the last plants of the season now....as winter approaches, we transition more and more over to hay. Here's hoping the hay makers have a good fall.

And so it begins. The marker came out, the wools were chosen and this is what happened. This primitive hooked rug is the project I will be pouring my love into. Its been 3 years since I really worked on a hooked rug and it's time to get back to it and my rug hooking friends. I've missed them and the quiet meditative practice of hooking. I love holding the wool. I've always loved wool.
