This week in Stanley: October 12-19 ⛅🌄

Ok, mother nature - it can be true fall weather now! But please don't hesitate to give us an extra month of summer next year too please 😊

Temperatures this week shift into highs in the 50's and lows in the 30's and 20's some nights, setting up some great conditions for hot spring, to hike, back to hot spring daily routines. Not a bad itinerary at all.

As we enter the latter half of October, hours of operations will begin to shift for a number of businesses around town. Please check individual business websites for up-to-date info, or send the Chamber of Commerce an email at [email protected] with questions. The RV dump station at the Stanley Ranger Station will likely close this week as well, given the onset of consistent overnight freezes. Please plan accordingly if you intend to RV camp in the Sawtooths in the coming weeks.

This has truly been a fantastic fall in Stanley, and the weather has made it feel like summer never left. Sure, the mornings are a bit crisp - but that's what makes the first cup of coffee and a morning hot spring feel so good.

There is a certain kind of peace to be found during fall in the Sawtooths, and it can't really be explained. Come experience it for yourself ✨

We would like to remind folks that hunting season is coming into full swing in Stanley. A few things to keep in mind:

If you are a hunter: Welcome! Whether this is your first season in Stanley or your fiftieth, we hope our town serves as a great basecamp for your pursuits. Gas, groceries, outerwear, and hardware supplies can all be purchased right in town. A variety of restuarants are ready with hot meals for you as well. Check out stanleycc.org for the full list of businesses. The RV dump station at the Stanley Ranger Station will remain open until consistent overnight freezes. Please plan accordingly.

If you are a visitor/non-hunter: A warm welcome to you too! Please be assured that it is perfectly safe to recreate in the Sawtooths during hunting season. There are many, many locations to hike and relax that don't generally overlap with hunting areas. Wearing blaze orange, avoiding hiking at dawn/dusk, and keeping dogs on a leash are proactive steps that you can take to avoid any potential conflict.

We all love Stanley and the Sawtooths. No matter what brings you here, it is our shared responsibility to recreate responsibly, pack out ALL trash (no more toilet paper under a rock, please), and put out all fires completely. Leave this place better than you found it 💚
