Whitetail Valley Cellars Iowa Apfel Wein and other fruit wines handcrafted with Swiss quality and Streuobstweise grown fruit.

The Kutzli family began planting apple trees on the hillsides of Whitetail Valley Farm in 2010. We reclaimed a traditional orchard practice from our ancestral home in Switzerland called Streuobstwiese, or “meadow orchard.” Meadow orchard trees are widely spaced, full sized trees of many different varieties. This traditional growing method allows maximum exposure to the soil, sunshine and breezes

that produce the special terrior that makes the best apples and best wine. Unlike modern intensive orchard growing practices, Streuobstwiesen are sustainably managed with minimal chemical inputs. It encourages beneficial pollinators and balance of the orchard environment. We produce rare antique varieties from Europe, England, and America and many modern varieties as well. The Iowa climate and prairie loam soil gives our ciders their own special character. We are currently designing our winery facility, Kelterei - Kützli. We plan a modern facility where we can hand craft small batches of our Äpfelweine (apple wines), and hard ciders in modern interpretations of traditional styles. We plan to produce varietal wines using specific apple cultivars, seasonal specialty wines for special occasions, and apple related products. We hope that you will taste the care, the tradition and the sunshine of an Iowa summer in every glass!

Labor Day Weekend has arrived! Autumn is upon us even if it is 100 degrees outside! It is cool at Whitetail Valley Cellars so stop in. We are open on Labor Day.

We are so excited to finally say it… Sunday brunch is coming back to Gibbs! ❤️

We know how much so many of you loved our brunch, and we’ve heard how much you’ve missed it. Being able to bring it back and welcome everyone to our tables on Sunday mornings again means so much to us.

Brunch will now be served the 2nd Sunday of every month from 9 AM–1 PM! We’re starting with one Sunday a month, and we’re so excited to have this opportunity to bring back something our customers have loved so much.

For parties of 6 or more, please call 712-829-2103 to make a reservation. Our final seating will be at 12:30 PM to make sure every table has plenty of time to enjoy their meal and receive the same great service before we close at 1:00.

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our customers and our little hometown restaurant. Same great food, same great service, and now Sunday brunch is back. ❤️

Hello Everyone!

Here is our Newsletter for September. Lots of things are happening at the farm and the w**ery. We will be short on apples this fall due to adverse weather but we are going to get pumpkins and we will extend our hours for Grampaw’s Punkin Patch. Watch Facebook for updates and I may send an email when we adjust hours for fall.
Call me if you know anyone who has apples we could pick to use for next year’s w**e. We usually start our w**es for the next summer in October of the previous year when we have harvested our apples. We just get the last of our w**e bottled and it is already time to start the next round.

About the middle of September we get our pumpkins and Grampaw is ready for kids, families and whomever else likes fall fun to come and visit. We will have the kids from Good Shepherd Christian Preschool come out to the farm again this October and if you have a group that would like to come visit just call and we can set up a time for your group too.

Have a great Labor Day Weekend. We will be open on Labor Day from 2 til 6 if you want to come enjoy a relaxed end to the weekend.
