With the ever changing scenes of what the media promotes is good for you and the growing big pharma issues- we have always been deemed as "tree huggers" and have tended to the natural as possible approach. Now more than ever, we feel that isn't only an option, as it is a necessity to eliminate processed foods, big pharma and GMOs from our lives as much as we possibly can. We are not organic- but strive to be as close to that as feasibly possible. We limit our chemical/ medication dependence.

Let me introduce you to Heidi and Nellie- they are "fingers crossed" going to be some new milking goats to the line up! They are in a quarantine pasture until their testing comes back and then they will get introduced to the BOSS around here- Tati.
Billy has already eyed them through the fences 😆

This is the last weeks of excitement - this was presented by Dennis Vega our show chairman, he doesn't have Facebook- so I am sharing some of the great news!

On June 10, 2026, we held the 2026 Kangal Dog Club of America National Specialty in Kalamazoo, MI under judge Gregory Wessel in conjunction with the UKC Premier. Thanks to all who helped along the way and all who attended. We had a total of 10 entries (with two Junior Showmanship). And the winners are:



Best in Specialty Show (BISS) - BLK Appa (19-month female) owned by Dennis Vega and bred by Chasity Corriveau.
Reserve Best in Specialty Show (RBISS) - CH Turkmen Tasi's Nuri (16-month female) owned by Leah Berecz and bred by Tamara Taylor.
Best Veteran in Specialty Show - UKC, Intl Ch Pr EMCC Lexington Bell @ Sunburst owned by Karen Gray and bred by Elisabeth Jensen.
Altered Best in Specialty Show - UKC, Intl Ch Pr EMCC Lexington Bell @ Sunburst owned by Karen Gray and bred by Elisabeth Jensen.

Special thanks to Rachel Prince who helped tremendously and ensured that all winners had beautiful rosettes to commemorate the wins. Thanks to the Kangal Dog Club of America and Babette Turk who donated a beautiful Turkish Kangal Dog Collar for the Best in Specialty Show; Animal Predators book by Janet Vorwald Donher for the Reserve Best in Specialty Show, Farm Dogs book by Janet Vorwald Donher for the Best of Winners



The excitement and festivities didn’t end with our National Specialty. Some of the exhibitors continued to compete throughout the weekend at the UKC Premier where Appa and Nuri continued winning: Appa took Best of Breed two more times, with Nuri winning Best of Breed once over the weekend.



Appa and Nuri continued showing and competing the following week in Connecticut, where Nuri won Best of Breed once, and earned a Group 4 placement. Appa took Best of Breed three times, earned two Group 1 placements, and won the highly coveted and highly elusive Best In Show (BIS), completing her UKC Champion title in just two weeks. Congratulations to all. Looking forward to our next National Specialty.

New superpower unlocked! Sourdough. Y'all not gonna believe this- but this amazing bubbly stuff will soon be introduced to the Etsy store.
I will first try to freeze dry it and introduce it that way- if it doesn't work- well back to the drawing board.
I am currently working on a mesophilic culture to start making our own RAW cheeses. Stay tuned for that project.

BLK Appa is one of my grand dogs!!!! She is a daughter of Kaan x Cahide. I am so excited for her, for Dennis and for what comes next!

We are about to wrap up lambing, we kinda think we are done- but we are hopeful for a maiden ewe to possibly lamb. She has tested positive, has a tiny udder but never gives us a lamb. We had a chat with her- let's hope she listened. Other than that we are done. We have several bottle babies, of course we will retain the ewe, Tizzy, her mom Lizzy is being retired.
Charles is the 3 lb triplet that is just barely 10 lbs after 30 days. I think we will keep him just to see how he grows out, of course he will never be breeder quality but will make a good friend with the Billy goat.
This is Rüya's first lambing and she is doing incredible with the lambs. She is not allowed to be left alone just yet. She has been left alone with the goats and Tati keeps her in line. Tati keeps all the dogs in line 😆

If all goes well, we will add milking sheep to the fun around here. There are going to be some changes, especially after lambing this year- we definitely need to downsize again.
As for now, we welcome Gladys and her ewe lamb, Jeepers. Gladys is still in milk although I doubt we get on the stand this season. They are in a quarantine paddock right now. We will test and decide what happens next.
Gladys is what we call a wool sheep/ dairy sheep so I better learn how to shear. Our regular herd are hair sheep- because we are lazy farmers 😆 So, until now we have never needed to shear. Needless to say- you will probably never see pictures of her after her terrible hair cuts 😂
My husband sacrificed his whole day to drive out to North Carolina to pick up these 2 beauties!

Tati and her favorite place. Tati is a Saanen goat. This breed of goat is the "Holstein" of milking goats, they provide a lot of milk for such a small animal.
Dairy animals also look thin, I don't like this about them but it's just what it is. She eats well- trust me. She refuses to get on the milking stand unless she has nothing but the finest alfalfa and oats in that bucket 😆
