Today brought a tragedy to the Moon.
Maestro (“Trump”) was humanely laid to rest after suffering a catastrophic injury. He fractured his humerus and severed his radial nerve. Unfortunately, there was no surgical option that could have given him a meaningful recovery.
I am incredibly grateful to Floyd Veterinary Services for responding so quickly when others didn’t. They were compassionate, thorough, and patient, taking the time to ensure we fully understood his condition and why this was the kindest decision we could make for him.
A special thank you to our church pastor at Reel Church for helping us in a moment of need and for sending someone out to bury him in the pasture. When you are faced with an unexpected loss like this and don’t have the equipment on hand, the practical realities feel overwhelming. Their willingness to step in and help gave us the opportunity to lay him to rest with dignity in a place he knew and loved
These moments never get easier. You simply become more familiar with carrying the weight of them. And no matter how many times you face it, it hurts every time.
I’m especially saddened that his retirement was cut short. He deserved many more years of easy days, green grass, and sunshine. Maestro was as kind as he was beautiful, and he leaves behind a space that cannot be filled.
I’ll always love you sweet boy. You were deeply loved, and you will be greatly missed. 💔🐴
☁️ you can’t tell me you don’t see it too😭
