Deadheading and documenting! Tis the season to make sure that blooms have been verified, photos captured, and notes recorded. We're still waiting on plenty of varieties to bloom, but the ones that are might be a little tired of the paparazzi around here! Today marks 6 weeks until we start digging and the season comes to an end. I can't believe we're already thinking about the end, so I'm going to soak in every moment that I can!

Sometimes the garden is overwhelming. Sometimes there is so much to do that you don't know where to start. Sometimes it seems like too much. But then you get out there, clean up broken stalks from the rain, and catch up on 2 weeks of deadheading, and just like that it's magical again! It's hard work, but walking out my back door and having this wonderland to greet me absolutely makes it worth it!

Patience is a virtue...... One that I definitely do not possess, but this little bitty thing FINALLY decided to put out a root after 58 days! I'll get her potted up and moved out to the greenhouse to do a bit of growing. We'll see how far she gets before we freeze!

Sometimes I have a spectacular plan. More often, I fail to plan and take whatever life sends my way. That my friends is how you end up with flowers growing in your pathways, and honestly, I kinda like them there :)

This week I spent zero time in the garden, but with nearly 30 hours in the car, I got all caught up on photo editing! This girl of mine is off to life's next adventure as she starts college in a new state, but she's all moved in, started work today, and I have no doubt it will be a great year!

I woke up this morning to the sound of raindrops hitting the trees outside my window. Rain is an infrequent visitor here in the summer, so I treasure every drop. A cool grey morning greeted me when I walked out the door this morning, with red leaves peeking out of the trees on my run. Our grass is littered with falling leaves, and I'm reminded that fall comes early in our neck of the woods, but the dahlias happily keep growing well into November most years. What a beautiful morning it was wandering through the gardens with blooms glittering with the morning's rain, and vivid colors around every turn!

PSDA is bursting at the seams with blooms and spectators! Head on in to Sky Nursery in Shoreline WA today until 6, or Sunday from 9-4 to check out thousands of blooms, and a wall spectacular celebrating their 50th anniversary!
