The United Nations has designated 2026 as the “International Year of the Woman Farmer”. Today is “International Day of Rural Women” - and we are celebrating!

On Jones Robotic Dairy, you’ll find women hopping in tractors, caring for (and carrying) livestock, building fences, sorting cattle and feeding anything with a mouth - every single day.

Women make up 40% of the global agriculture labor force (and over 50% in many areas). May we be reminded today to celebrate them, and consider how we might support them!

Featured Female Farmers: Pam Jones, Christy Jones C**n, Amy Jones

It’s been a tough morning here. Pip (our farm’s version of Jimothy - “oddly-shaped but lovable”) passed away. We had noticed her breathing becoming more and more labored as she was growing. While we had been giving her medical attention and care, we knew from the beginning she would have a shorter life.

We ended up loving her 15 weeks with her big personality and demands for lots of pets (we were willing to give). We know many farms wouldn’t have invested so much time, energy and resources into her short life, but she was such a bright spot for our summer and we were happy to share our little oddity with all of you. We are also grateful to share the realness of loss on the farm. As farmers we love and steward for the creatures and land God puts in our care, and are sad when things like this happen, even though we know it’s what we signed up for as part of the occupation.

Thank you for helping us love her so well! May we all be reminded to not let what makes us different change our ability to enjoy life and be loved through it! You’ll be missed - Pipsqueak “Pip” 🖤🤍🖤

We know it’s - but we thought it might be a good day to give you an update on Pip, since she’s basically a cow dog! 😆

The first photo is of Pip when she was 12 days old, standing next to a new baby calf who was just 2 days old - to give you a size comparison!

She is now 10 weeks old! And while she has grown a little bit, her personality is what’s grown the most 😆

She is “free range” in the calf barn, and has befriended all the baby kittens. In the photo with Pam you can see some of her spine deformity - and the last photo is Pip today!

She provides us with a full range of emotions - and requires pets every chore time. Happy National “Cow Dog” Day, Pip!

We broke the news about Dolly Parton to our own Dolly dog… and thought the best way to honor her would be to share some of our favorite Quotes:

“I always count my blessings more than I count my money. I don’t work for money, never did.”

“Don’t get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.”

And Dolly Dog’s Favorite - "You'd be surprised how much it costs to look this cheap!"

Meet “Pip” - our farm’s version of “Jimothy” a cute but weird creature with a spine deformity and (we think) slight dwarfism… that doesn’t stop her from getting the zoomies and stealing our hearts. We’ll share more from Pipsqueak soon!
