Thorn Hill Homestead We are a small homestead located in Augusta county Virginia. We raise poultry, rabbits and goats. We are adding sheep and pigs this year!

When we moved to our property we were excited to finally have space to raise pigs! Neither of us had any experience raising them but this year we purchased 3 little piglets and we made it happen. Start to finish it was definitely a learning experience, they escaped, they destroyed things, they were way sassier and pushier then I expected but they were so loved all the same. We have only eaten a limited amount of pork over the last several years not wanting to purchase from the grocery store and support CAFOs that dominate grocery store pork. We are now enjoying our home raised pork and it is amazing! Happy animals really do produce the best food! Do you think grocery store piggies got belly scratches? Ours did! They rolled in the mud, lounged under shade trees, got treats and scratches.

We've been pretty quiet this month, quite honestly we've reached the point in the season where we are wore out with farm tasks. We are ready for the season of rest and regrouping that is almost here.
This is our first year with markets, selling our goods and the farmstand. It has been a great experience. We have met so many wonderful people and learned a TON. We greatly appreciate everyone who has supported us this season!!
We have 2 more markets coming up this season, the Churchville Market this Saturday 9-12 and the Augusta Harvest Market at The Alpine Goat next Saturday the 24th from 12-3. We would so enjoy seeing as many of our followers as possible before the season ends!
I would love to get our page up to 200 followers by the end of the season so we are going to do a give away! Comment on this post and share our page or something from it and when we get to 200 followers, we will draw a name from the comments for a gift basket full of goodies from our farm as a thank you!

Wondering where you can find us this weekend? We will be at Churchville Market this Saturday 9-12! We will have our goat milk soaps, lotions and some produce. We will also have some salsa and pepper jelly. We sold out of pepper jelly last weekend so don't wait if you love pepper jelly as much as we do!
