Small-batch wines, farm animals, and wine-filled adventures in Staunton and at festivals across Virginia. Twisted Pines Farm & Vineyard is a family-owned farm and winery in Virginia's scenic Shenandoah Valley, where wine, agriculture, and a healthy dose of the unexpected all grow together. We craft small-batch wines from Virginia-grown grapes, combining traditional winemaking techniques with a little experimentation. Our vineyard features European grape varietals, while our working farm is home to Highland cattle, Toulouse geese, and Sebastopol geese. Onsite wine tastings and pickups are available by invitation only, so please contact us in advance to request a visit. You can also find us pouring our wines at festivals and events across Virginia.

Think we’re taking it easy after Scottsville? Not a chance! 😂 Twisted Pines is heading straight from the Riverbend W**e Festival to the Portsmouth W**e Festival for another day of pouring, sipping, and making memories!

🍇 W**emaking Wednesday | 2026 Harvest

This time around, we’re taking a look at Riesling at the press. After harvest, the grapes make their way to the press, where the juice is separated from the grape solids. And there it is: fresh Riesling juice flowing from the press and on its way to becoming w**e.

There’s something pretty satisfying about watching all those grapes we’ve been following through harvest finally turn into juice.

twisted tuesday: what's that dent in the bottom of a w**e bottle?

Ever notice that little dip in the bottom of a w**e bottle? It’s called a punt — and no, it’s not just there to make the bottle look fancy.

There are a few theories and practical reasons behind it!

🍷 It helps with stability. The punt pushes the bottle’s outer edge into a sturdy ring, helping it stand securely.

🍷 It has historical roots. Back when bottles were made by hand, glassblowers often left an indentation in the base to help the bottle sit flat and keep the seam from sticking out.

🍷 It can help with sediment. In some w**es, especially older reds, the punt and curved base may help sediment collect in one area when the bottle is handled carefully.

🍷 And what about strength? The punt can contribute to a bottle’s structure, but it doesn’t automatically mean the w**e inside is better. Sorry, fancy bottle fans!

So, does a deeper punt mean a better w**e? Nope. It’s not a secret w**e-quality rating, no matter how confident the bottle looks sitting on the table.

Chris can explain the science. Richard would like to know if the punt makes the bottle easier to tip when he’s reaching for a slushie.

Chesapeake, we’re ready to get a little Twisted!

The Chesapeake Virginia W**e Festival is happening TODAY at Chesapeake City Park, and we’ll be here pouring from 11 AM–6 PM. Come find the Twisted Pines booth, grab a glass, sample some w**e, and say hello!

And remember — 100% of every ticket purchased goes to local charity.

Good w**e. Good cause. Good excuse to spend your Saturday with us.
