What’s even better is we now are able to offer more payment options through this processor. Let’s have a chat because it’s been a rough week and I’m out of patience.

I don’t usually let personal life circumstances affect how I handle business but I’ve really been pushed to my limit this week.

We had a security breech / issue with Venmo. Countless hours have gone into trying to fix it and considering we had the same thing happen with our PayPal account years ago (PayPal now owns Venmo) I was hesitant to even accept payments through Venmo. Well I did and now this. The worst part is you have to jump through a million hoops to even talk to anyone who speaks English. I have funds still in Venmo that I can’t access. Someone tried making a duplicate account I guess wanting to scam people but we were able to shut that down before it ever started. So for the foreseeable future no more Venmo. That is headache #1.

Headache #2 family member involved in a motorcycle accident. He’s healing and ok but the bike is totaled and the stress from that has my own health issues flaring up on me. Life is short, people need to stop taking everything for granted.

Headache #3 these birds. I LOVE my birds. But I hate the people. Not all the people, but there’s a percentage that make this hobby absolutely miserable. These birds aren’t coming off a manufacturing line. You have to constantly check them. Make sure they are healthy and aren’t hiding anything, make sure their runs are predator proof. Deal with the stress from the weather etc. I cannot physically make a bird breed. I am behind on the marans orders because I realized that my fertility had dipped below what I deem as acceptable and stopped shipping eggs instead of sending people eggs I knew weren’t fertile. It has been a heat index of over 103 degrees here some days. It’s miserably hot and I’m blessed the girls are even still laying but until fertility is back up I will not be shipping eggs. I check fertility by cracking open fresh eggs and until I can crack open a dozen eggs and have at least 10 be fertile I’m not shipping them. It’s the nature of birds to molt, take laying breaks, and yes even have poor fertility when it’s this hot. I’ve had a few people be absolutely ridiculous when it comes to this. They want the darkest eggs possible (which I always send) but they aren’t willing to have any wiggle room and act like it’s obscene for a bird to take a break then you do send them the darkest eggs and they can’t even hatch them and then get mad because all their chicks didn’t hatch and died in the egg at lockdown 🙃

Some people really do ruin it for everyone so unfortunately there will be no more eggs offered for the marans or for the cocoa eggers. I have had it. From now on you pay for a chick. I hatch that chick, and you are shipped a chick. For the people still on my lists you can change your egg order to a spring chick order and I will eat the shipping costs myself to honor your order and get you chicks come spring. If you are unable to wait for spring I will continue to work with you on your egg order but it may be later in the season than I anticipated.
