Avocado toast. You know how to make it. Avocados, salt, toast, DONE! Sometimes we feel FANCY, though…

TIPS
AVOS: Hass - ripe but not mushy or stringy. They should give a little when you squeeze them lightly.

MASH IT REAL GOOD:: Mashed avocado > sliced avocado. Fight me. Mash in a bowl or on a plate, with a fork, instead of on the bread.

FEELING SALTY:: mix in a pinch or two, then sprinkle some flaky sea salt on top.

BREADY OR NOT:: Good sturdy bread - whole grain, sourdough, country bread (you can’t go wrong with for bread), bagels, etc. nicely toasted to contrast the creaminess of the avocado.

ADD INS & ONS
VEG: Sliced cherry tomatoes (with balsamic drizzle), Lemon or lime juice, Red onions (raw or quick-pickled) - slice on top or chop to add in
Green onions, sprouts
Garlic: rub a peeled clove over your toast before adding the avocado
PROTEIN: Lox, bacon (plant based or otherwise), shrimp
GET EGG-Y WITH IT: Fried, poached, hard boiled slices or scrambled
CRRRUNCH: Radishes, cucumbers, roasted chickpeas, pomegranate arils
HOTHOTHOT! Jalapeños or hot sauce, or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes
NUTS! Toasted pine nuts or sunflower seeds, pecans, walnuts, almonds, cashews, h**p seeds, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds
SAUCY: Salsa, pesto, chimichurri, balsamic, olive oil
and, of course…
CHEESE (get some amahhhzing artisanal cheese from )

SEASONS CHANGE & SO DO I
Flaky sea salt & pepper
Olive oil
Everything Bagel seasoning
Garlic powder
Cayenne pepper
Red pepper flakes
Fresh herbs: I love thyme with everything, but also basil, cilantro, parsley or dill work

🧃 What GREEN can do for you! 🧃
"Green juice is rich in chlorophyll, which helps the body detoxify and circulate oxygen. It also balances the body’s pH by reducing acidity. Low-grade acidosis can zap energy and contribute to many health problems, such as kidney stones."

Golden turmeric, stains your hands and adds a spicy earthiness to your juice, milk, coffee and food. It's also pretty magical.
🧙🏽‍♂️
Turmeric contains curcumin, which has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Alone it is poorly absorbed - so it is best combined with black pepper, which contains piperine. Piperine increases the absorption of curcumin by 2,000% (!!)

Chronic low-level inflammation contributes to:

- heart disease
- cancer
- metabolic syndrome
- Alzheimer’s disease
- various degenerative conditions

Anything that fights chronic inflammation is potentially important in preventing and helping treat these conditions.

What's the first thing that comes to mind when your hear the word "ginger"? Tell us in the comments!

Some of us are old enough to associate it with a "3 hour tour"...

WOW! Look at the ginger Rylin picked up for the Judie!
HUUUUGE!

Ginger is super good for you and adds a kick to your juice.

I'll let WebMd explain its benefits:

Fights Germs
Certain chemical compounds in fresh ginger help your body ward off germs. They’re especially good at halting growth of bacteria like E.coli and shigella, and they may also keep viruses like RSV at bay.

Keeps Your Mouth Healthy
Ginger’s antibacterial power may also brighten your smile. Active compounds in ginger called gingerols keep oral bacteria from growing. These bacteria are the same ones that can cause periodontal disease, a serious gum infection.

Calms Nausea
The old wives’ tale may be true: Ginger helps if you’re trying to ease a queasy stomach, especially during pregnancy. It may work by breaking up and getting rid of built-up gas in your intestines. It might also help settle seasickness or nausea caused by chemotherapy.

Soothes Sore Muscles
Ginger won’t whisk away muscle pain on the spot, but it may tame soreness over time. In some studies, people with muscle aches from exercise who took ginger had less pain the next day than those who didn’t.

Eases Arthritis Symptoms
Ginger is an anti-inflammatory, which means it reduces swelling. That may be especially helpful for treating symptoms of both rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. You might get relief from pain and swelling either by taking ginger by mouth or by using a ginger compress or patch on your skin.

Curbs Cancer Growth
Some studies show that bioactive molecules in ginger may slow down the growth of some cancers like colorectal, gastric, ovarian, liver, skin, breast, and prostate cancer. But much more research is needed to see if this is true.

Lowers Blood Sugar
One recent small study suggested that ginger may help your body use insulin better. Larger studies are needed to see if ginger could help improve blood sugar levels.

Eases Period Pains
Got menstrual cramps? Ginger powder may help. In studies, women who took 1,500 milligrams of ginger powder once a day for 3 days during their cycle felt less pain than women who didn’t.

Lowers Cholesterol
A daily dose of ginger may help you battle your “bad” or LDL cholesterol levels. In a recent study, taking 5 grams of ginger a day for 3 months lowered people’s LDL cholesterol an average of 30 points.

Protects Against Disease
Ginger is loaded with antioxidants, compounds that prevent stress and damage to your body’s DNA. They may help your body fight off chronic diseases like high blood pressure, heart disease, and diseases of the lungs, plus promote healthy aging.
