Grazing some hayfield. Tonnage not there to burn the diesel. Lord we need some rain. 4 years of drought is starting to test the nerves.

We grazed stockpile until April 2nd. Then hayed for 2 weeks. It's year 4 of no/limited rain in April. But, tomorrow we're going to grass. The grass is not where we want it, but the cow herd should be able to flash across the farm over a 30 day period. At some point in that time it will rain, and then we can slow up. Here's to praying that it rains more often this year than in the previous 4, especially last year. Prayer warriors - farmers all over Virginia could all use some help.

UPDATE: SOLD

Cow calf pair for sale. Bull calf on a heifer born 2/26. Heifer is a SAV Rainfall daughter and is 2.4 years old. Can be registered. Her dams pedigree is attached. Dam was 12 when she had her. We're fall calvers and she got caught late. Grass based, easy keeping production oriented cattle. Genetics focused on carcass quality and making good cows. Our average cow age is over 8 years!
