Beautiful day on the farm!!!

Calving is in full swing and the grazing management pays off once again. 4 years of drought. 4 years of no rain in April and little from May to August. Missing the thunderstorms. Frustration and stress abound month after month, but God provides wisdom and rain. Years of increasing organic matter prove beneficial when you finally get a little rain. Long rest periods in the growing season allow for maximum root growth, which now pays dividends.

It ain't much but it's what we have to work with. Good news is the regrowth and the clover we drone seeded in February. Thought it was a partial failure with the little to no rain it's had since then, but coming on strong now after we make a grazing pass!

Haven't gotten the rain some.others have, but doing okay. Managing your grazing pays off still, even in year 4 of drought. Never thought it could be worse than last year, which we handled very well, but it is. Still, thankful for the knowledge and wisdom gained in the last 6 years and better off than so many others.

Pic is cows strip grazing woods we cleared in 2022. Great mix of orchard Grass, fescue, crabgrass, foxtail, barnyard grass, purple top, clovers, and others. Not exactly silvopasture, but sporadic trees help keep the soil shaded a lot.
