Well not the best picture… but the cottonwood tree formed on the side of the ditch bank…… add high winds and the root ball of the tree took out the ditch.

Fixing up the barn so, if here, we can host birthday parties at the farm and allow “farm owners” to share in the joy of this barn. The reason for farm owners in parentheses, is we are planning on allowing people to share in the herd are receive milk for boarding their cows here. Farm “owners” can help out, we will likely develop a community garden for those without land in Steamboat to come out and share in the abundance we create here.

Loving on the old barn. Fixing the walls, winterizing her, replaced parts of the floor that had worn through. We still have a lot to do, but we are gearing up to milk in the barn, the cows body heat will help to keep it somewhat warm this winter.
We will be having cheese classes and likely allowing some people to stay at the farm and help us out In the future. While I really did not get the time off I hoped for over the last year, I am centered, rested and ready to start milking in the spring. We will offer cow shares this year and subsequently those who own a share of the cow, pay boarding and can share In the cow’s milk, unadulterated.

So while I’m not in cheese mode at this time such that there is limited product available. You can come out and make cheese with me, and take it to go as it’s your creation. Working myself to more of a gifting economy, in which I can do what I enjoy, but at a scale that is enjoyable for me… (or a part time helper here in the future).

Reverence

Why are we caught up in it all
A belief that we must have more
I don’t think that is our call (ing)
In a rush, so much we ignore

Every moment God is there with us (and within)
So many tales that we have created
Caught up in such a fuss
Often others we have berated

In a world filled with distractions
We often fail to stay in our presence
We meet situations with a defensive reaction
Slowing down, getting at the roots in a state of reverence
