We had such a wonderful time at the DGSV Show this past weekend! This is such an amazing show. The show committee does such a great job of keeping everything running smoothly while making everyone feel welcome.

The Virginia Horse Center is such a beautiful venue, and our goats were incredibly relaxed and comfortable there. There were so many beautiful and correct does in the rings, and I am so thrilled with how well our girls did!

Wings & Caprines Chocolatini went Grand Champion and Best in Show today at the DGSV show under Kyle Miller.

This is a doeling I've failed to introduce since bringing her home in May. This wasn't a planned addition, I just happened to be chatting with her breeder Josie and well one thing lead to another ๐Ÿ˜… This is the sweetest kid, but I've failed to introduce her because she's spoiled rotten and hasn't wanted to set up for a photo that showed off her true quality. Today, she walked in the ring, set up and stood like a statue. Despite being in the youngest junior class she went Grand and then I was blown away when she went on to go BIS (our first BIS!)

Full show placings coming soon, but this girl deserved her own post. Big thanks to her breeder, Josie, for trusting us with another wonderful Wings & Caprines doe in our herd โค๏ธ

I'm so excited the ADGA has started awarding milk stars. BUT what does "Milker Gen. Ancestry" actually mean? I thought this would represent when the doe met the requirements to earn her star. However, in this case the doe didn't freshen until 2025. So I'm curious if it's a bug or am I misunderstanding what it means.

๐ŸŒŸ Zenquility Acres RM Miracle ๐ŸŒŸ

Miracle's dam, Kimchi, is a petite doe who was carrying triplets. Unfortunately, all three kids became tangled during delivery. After a lot of work repositioning them, I was able to deliver her two brothers, but I just couldn't get this little doeling out. As Kimchi began to decline, we made the 45-minute drive to the vet school. The veterinarians worked for quite a while to deliver the final kid. By that point, no one expected her to be alive, but to everyone's surprise, she arrived bright, healthy, and full of life. The veterinary team started calling her "Miracle," and the name couldn't have been more fitting. It stuck. She's has a sweet, calm demeanor and just wants to be held as much as possible.

Odessa made it out to the NCDGBA Show in May and placed 1st in 2 rings and 2nd in the other (behind her littermate). Her dam, Sriracha, is a yearling milker and placed 2nd in a very competitive class at Pride of the Piedmont show.

I'm really excited about this kid. Her dam, Raven, has so many qualities that I love. The udders behind her sire, Rocket Man, have proven to be consistently well attached and productive. I'm excited to see how Dancer matures and what she brings to the herd.

Poor Dezzi! I noticed this hard knot along her lower jawbone. The vet came out and suspects either a tooth abscess or infection in the jawbone based on the ultrasound. She wasn't very tolerant of an oral exam so we'll go into the vet school for radiographs and a sedated oral exam on Tuesday to figure out the issue. In the meantime pain meds. They were able to flush out a lot of packed hay in the area. Luckily, she's eating and drinking remarkably well.

All the bucklings left this week cutting the kidding pen in half. The girls are enjoying extra attention. I really need to introduce this special chocolate doeling that joined our herd a few weeks ago ๐Ÿ˜
