Reading the newsletter from last month I saw that a raffle was being done to support Kristy's team in the MND Triple Crown.

I never much pay attention to prizes as I don't think I have won any so I was surprised to find a message a little later from her saying I had won something.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of and efforts of I came home from Texas to find this waiting for me. I thought it deserved a bit of pomp &/or circumstance for the unveiling.

The Glenmorangie 25 yr The Altus, a blend of designer bourbon casks with just a sprinkling of Madeira Cask finish, a nod to the original Madeira Woid Finish 30 years ago.

I will follow up when I get to crack this open with some company to share it as it deserves.

Getting to enjoy the Texas evening at the . I was lucky enough to be gifted this sample of the latest Stagg single barrel from . Despite the big proof the flavors are honey and spice, almost reminding me of a cask strength version of the classic Buffalo Trace bourbon profile.
Another gift is from Don Williams, the , a aged cigar, a new edition to their lineup. Deep flavors but lightened with a creamy undertone that changes the chocolate to Tootsie Roll and the leathers to a worn patina.
Very big thank yous to both Don and Brooke for the gifts.

The core offering is an accessible online hybrid program that meets 1x weekly for 2 hours online. This Enhanced Self Study Online Cohort (ESSOC) will allow you to study sections on your schedule and then meet together to discuss, ask questions, and grow community along the way.

Our Community page will be up later this year allowing long term interaction between students to further grow the whiskey community.

One of my favorite things to do on my trips to Texas teaching new Sommeliers is visiting .

Getting to see their journey and how much they have grown and matured and innovate. From their Bottled in Bond to their new Cigar Malt partnership with , there is genuinely something for everyone.

I'm not saying this because I invested in them...I invested in them because I believe what I'm telling you. (See last Pic and find my name.)

Wonderful event tonight at with with and

Since the 12yr Doublewood was my first Scotch it will always hold a special place in my heart but the other offerings aren't far behind.

What tonight showed is really important for consumers to know. Show up.

Even if ypu know the brands and especially if ypu don't. Events like these are a great and economical way to explore and learn new things and the more brands see a customer base engaged and attending the more they know to pay attention to your area. Its how you see more events and more offerings at your local shops, bars, and restaurants.

So show up, have fun, and enjoy yourself.

One of the best Irish pubs in Michigan, always has the best food and Irish Whiskey. A Kilkenny Irish Nitro Cream Ale with John Lane and an Irish Coffee with for a nightcap. Merry Christmas indeed.
