Tomorrow, Saturday, September 19th, we'll be closed as we honor the incredible life and legacy of Uncle Mike Sisson. Uncle Mike may have married into the Hartwick family, but his love and dedication made him a vital part of the farm's heartbeat. He selflessly lent his time during countless planting and harvest seasons, not out of obligation, but out of love, often helping Byron navigate the farm through its most challenging times. As a master carpenter, Uncle Mike's exceptional talent was a gift to behold. Above all, family was the cornerstone of his life, and we're reminded that his love and legacy will continue to inspire us. This milestone marks another chapter in the journey of healing for our family, as we take comfort in the memories and lessons he's left behind. Another hard loss for our family, but we know he’s up there with Uncle Ed giving Heaven some hell. Until we meet again Uncle Mike ❤️

Today, we were delighted to host the 5th-grade class from the AuGres School District for an educational farm tour! During the visit, the students gained valuable hands-on experience in sustainable farming practices, including cultivating feed for our livestock and overseeing the development of pasture raised beef. Needless to say, these kiddos had a lot of fun today! We want to extend our sincere gratitude to the Arenac Conservation District for letting us be a part of today, and highlighting the significance of agriculture to our youth.

It’s the most glorious work you can do, that nobody ever sees.

Takes every inch of you.

And nobody knows if you won or if you lost.

It’s art, without an audience, ‘til the day you die.

Back at it hauling hay again, passing on the legacy of farming by teaching our son how to drive the flat bed today. It's all about empowering the next generation with the skills to sustain and grow the farm, ensuring its success long after we're gone. Pretty dang proud of our boy 😊

The endless summer task of loading, hauling, and unloading bales of hay is always fun. This year we've been blessed with a bountiful hay season to keep our cows thriving and happy, and for that, we're very thankful!

Phew! You guys have been keeping us busy, and we love it!

Right now, we are working on baling oats for the ladies. Oats are high in fiber, which provides great feed for our ladies over the winter! Fun fact: pregnant cows are much like humans in gestation. It takes 9 whole months to grow a calf, so we want to make sure the girls are fed quality feed to keep their pregnancy going smoothly. Not only do oats provide a great source of fiber, the cows go crazy over oats!

As always, we love you guys and your support! We cannot thank you enough for your business, and keeping our little farm going ❤️
