I have had several messages about bees and equipment for this spring, so here is the schedule beginning in April.

Overwintered Colonies: SOLD OUT. These usually get booked up pretty quick the previous fall.

3 Pound Packages: A 3 pound package with a 2026 marked/mated queen. $150 each. I am planning to have the packages here for pick up in mid/late April. $100 deposit per package required.

Started Nuc Box: I start the 3 # package here in a five frame nuc box. I will treat the package for mites with oxalic acid while they are broodless. I will give the package syrup and a pollen patty, confirm the queen is released, accepted, and laying eggs. About two weeks after the package is started you can come here and go through the nuc with me before you take it home. $175 each. I will probably only book a dozen of these. $100 deposit required. Tentatively planned to be available late April/early May.

Started Two Way Pallet Kit: Similar to the started nuc, this is two 3 # packages each started in a ten frame deep box. These two deep boxes share a two way bottom pallet. I start the colonies here, treat, feed, and confirm queen acceptance. After two weeks you will take home two started colonies on a two way pallet (see pic if you are unfamiliar with the two-way bottom). Each set (two colonies including woodenware) are $425 each. I will probably only book a dozen of these. $100 deposit required.

Two way pallet kit. Woodenware ONLY: Includes, Two wax dipped migratory lids,
two 10 frame deeps with frames (frames are a mix of premier foundation, drawn comb, and foundationless frames) on a
two-way pallet with U clips. $130 each.

Nuc box. Woodenware ONLY: Includes, One 5 frame wooden nuc box with five frames, permanent bottom, and lid. (frames are a mix of Premier foundation, drawn comb, and foundationless frames). $25 each.

I will update this post regularly with how many of each item is still available. If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

Early December cleansing flights. Another day closer to spring.

Winter set up to help manage the four Ms: Mice, Munchies, Mites, and Moisture.

Two feed shims on a single 10 frame deep. Both shims have three holes (wire over holes to keep mice out) drilled in the front to help with moisture control. The lower shim will allow for an oxalic acid v***r (mite) treatment. After the OA treatment a sheet of wax paper is laid across the top of the frames and dry sugar is poured over the wax paper (munchies…emergency food). The top shim has a piece of 1/2” asphalt fiberboard in it for moisture control. The fiberboard is also a barrier for the lid as the plastic feeder plugs are notorious for small leaks. The bubble foil insulation inner cover seals up any gaps between the top shim and the top cover. With a little luck, and a few answered prayers, we will have overwintered nucleus colonies in spring of 2025.
