Fertility. What does that mean to a cow herd? 802 is a 3rd calf cow, soon to be bred with number 4. She’s done her job and done it well so far. She isn’t the top phenotype in my herd but with fertility, I can develop the phenotype with her calves. I bred her to Musgrave Crackerjack this year and got her settled. With fertility, I can develop my herd and steer it in the direction that I am breeding for. Her daughter, 2802 has to earn her keep but she’s off to a good start. Hopefully she will earn her way into the Rahn Cattle Co. program.

Loving how this 812 heifer calf is growing up! Her mom is maintaining her condition and being a great mama! I kept the daughter out of 812 that she produced as a first calf heifer. Excited to replicate this cow family in the herd!

It would be hard to put together a better looking calf than this 2 week old crackerjack daughter. There’s always room for improvement but this is the that I am breeding for. Her mom is 3rd calf cow that maintains condition when milking hard, breeds back and just flat out gets the job done. Excited for this girl to hopefully join the herd someday.
