Good morning, Sauk Valley!

We’re here at the Twin City Farmer’s Market until noon!

We have our Ginger Biscuits, Zucchini Bread (using local zucchini!), and a bit of Carrot Jam left!

Due to a few turns in life, our Flapjacks will be (hopefully) coming along late. Turns out they needed a little more cooling time. 😁

Come and see us this morning - it’s lovely and breezy down at the market! 🍰

Good morning, Sauk Valley!

Apologies on the late menu - I usually try to get this out on Mondays, but it just got away from me this week! 😁

Here’s the menu for this week - we will *not* be at the Dixon City Market this week due to the heat and projected storms, but will be at the Twin City Market in Sterling on Saturday! We do also make special orders if you need something for an event or get-together! Just send us a message.

We have this week -

Traditional Bread Rolls - as simple as we can make them!
Ginger Biscuits - snappy and with that ginger kick!
Zucchini Bread - Grandma’s recipe, made with local Gaumer Farm zucchini!
Golden Syrup Flapjacks - amazing portable oatmeal bars!
Lemon Curd - the return of a favorite, tart and sweet!

We’ll be seeing y’all at the Dixon City Market by the riverside tonight from 5pm to 8pm.

We will not have our focaccia tonight, but we have fresh matcha lemon drizzle cakes, Victoria cake truffles, custard cream biscuits, and our carrot jam! 😁🍰🎉

Hello, Sauk Valley!

Here’s our menu for this week at the
Dixon City Market on Wednesday the 3rd &
Twin City Farmer’s Market on Saturday the 6th! 🍰

Cheese & Onion Focaccia - two slices of wonderfully thick and chewy flatbread, earthy and yet fancy enough for brunch. We’ve made these in one of our favorite flavor combinations, cheese & onion.

Custard Cream Biscuits - sandwich biscuit cookies with the flavor of custard. If you loved our Bourbon Biscuits, these are their milder but ‘moreish’ cousins. One bite is never enough.

Victoria Cake Truffles - our grown up cake truffles made from our popular Victoria sponge cake. The raspberry jam gives a little jolt through these soft and decadent balls.

Matcha Lemon Drizzle Cake - these little cakes are like sunshine on your plate. The bright flavor of matcha green tea with tart lemons are like sweet yet refreshing summer days.

Carrot Jam - a delightfully different recipe from Victorian England, this jam was created for those times when fresh fruit was unavailable due to winter or rationing but folks still wanted something sweet. Weird at first glance, but tasty.

Good morning, Sauk Valley!

It was so good to see so many of y’all - new faces and returning friends - yesterday in Dixon!

But time keeps marching on, so we’re busy baking up some more goodies for the Farmer’s Market in Sterling on Saturday!

Meanwhile, we have some goodies in our cabinet today at 603 W 13th St in Sterling if you can’t wait until then.

We have a few of our Victoria Sponge Cakes (3 for $12), a few Matcha Shortbread (5 for $7), and some Lemon Curd, Apple Butter, and Carrot Jam jars ($5 each).

We have our Honesty Box and Venmo code out and ready for y’all.

Hello, Sauk Valley!

We’re going to be posting the menu for the upcoming week on Mondays from here on out so folks have a chance to decide what they want for our Wednesday stop at the Dixon City Market! ☺️

This week we have -

Honey Oat Bread Rolls - four of our delicious, lightly sweetened rolls with rolled oats giving a slight chew throughout.

Welshcakes - four lightly spiced Welshcakes with candied orange peel. These griddle cakes are darn near impossible to find outside of Wales! If you haven’t tried one, you’re missing out!

Matcha Shortbread - five square shortbreads infused with bright and grassy Japanese matcha! If you love a matcha latte, give these a taste! We do a mix of some iced with a plain glaze, and some unglazed so you can choose how sweet or not you want each bite to be!

Victoria Sponge Cake - three of the queen of British cakes! A golden sponge cake with a homemade raspberry filling. Even with the powdered sugar dusting on top, these are not too sweet. One of our bestsellers.

Carrot Jam - a quarter pint jar of an unusual non-fruit jam! From an 1861 Victorian English recipe, this was also called Mock Apricot Jam. For those times when fresh fruit was unavailable, or in rationing, this carrot based sweet spread is amazing any time of year. Definitely something to try on our rolls!

Come see Jolee at the Dixon City Market on Wednesday from 5-8pm - we don’t know exactly where we’ll be down on the river yet, but we’re looking forward to finding some new friends!
And then our usual Saturday at the Twin City Market from 8am to Noon with both Chris and Jolee (with maybe a few more knitted bunnies!)
