If they don’t have a catalog, I’m a jerk. But you know what? I’m a jerk with a catalog….. And actually I have 2 catalogs. Because I’m weird and HAVE to have the physical one for a keepsake AND digital because I don’t want to ruin the physical one. 😂

I went to the 6th Annual Northwoods Poultry Fanciers’ show yesterday. I didn’t take any birds but went to lend a hand. I don’t know too much about showing birds but since I helped at our fair, I decided I wanted to learn more. I opted to not clerk since I lack the knowledge level to feel confident. But I did help with the results recording and learned a lot that way! I was able to shadow Cindy Miller Hohlstein, whom is also a silkie lover! She was very patient and we actually made a really good team (in my opinion lol).

It was really neat seeing a lot of people from our fair there and seeing all of their wins!

I even spotted a Bre Patz from Pips 'n Chicks in the wild, judging Showmanship. If you get a chance, head over to her page to look at her GORGEOUS photos from the show!

Attention rare breed rabbit breeders- whether you show or use your rabbits for meat/fur, if your breed is on the Priority List, please take this survey! TLC played a critical role in the Silver Fox breed graduating this past February! It really does matter!!

Our first comprehensive census of all the heritage rabbit breeds currently listed on the Conservation Priority List! The census will give a clearer picture of rare rabbit populations and inform future conservation priorities.

Went to the Wisconsin State Rabbit Breeders Association’s Convention in Neillsville. We didn’t take anything to show but just leant a helping hand where we could- writing, putting rabbits on the table for folks, etc.

It’s so crazy to know it’s been 25 years since 9/11. We remember it like it was yesterday but yet it feels forever ago.

Now in the history books and taught in school, nothing comes close to watching and hearing the devastation that day.

We owe all those lost - civilians, first responders and military - to LIVE & LOVE like it’s 09/12/2001.

Never forget… God Bless America!

This weekend was amazing…

The barn was buzzing with excitement after Congressman Derrick Van Orden came to talk with our fair kids on Saturday and hand out awards for us. I really hope these kids grow up someday and realize how cool it is to not only have met him but been able to show him their animals that they have worked so hard on! The older kids were thrilled and the parents were giddy. Several kids earned a special challenge coin to celebrate their accomplishment in the barn!

In stark contrast, his opponent Rebecca Cooke & team came in after he went to other barns/areas. They were salty and sour that the barn was relatively empty- we had just had a long day of showing and many kids needed to go check on other animals & eat after going non-stop all morning. They didn’t understand why even the people that were there didn’t want to talk to them. Was she expecting us to drop everything and roll out a red carpet? Talk about entitled mean girl energy 👎🏻 Ew. They then proceeded to scold a CHILD about a sign I personally put up by our truck so Derrick’s team had a safe place to park when they got there. It wasn’t “campaigning”. It was reserving a spot for a man that gives his all for us….By our farm truck, in the back field where most fair-goers would not even see it. Thankfully the mom of that child stepped in to intervene. (Give that woman a cape!) The youth is super sweet but very shy and quiet. So why anyone would think it was her fault that there was a sign by my truck at all is beyond me. I apologized to mom & exhibitor up and down since it was our sign. Mom was team DVO before this incident but it just solidified her views. Then Rebecca and her cronies stormed off- I assume to belittle more children or sharpen her claws? Idk but I’m glad she left to leave these hard-working kids in peace after a hard day.

Seeing all of Rebecca’s literature and flyers in the barn garbages was ultra satisfying as well. 😂 If you treat our kids like crap…. We will Remember in November.

TL;DR
Derrick Van Orden: He’ll give your kid a high five, talk about their animals/projects and tell them how proud he is of them.
Rebecca Cooke: She’ll whine, act like a spoiled brat, and yell at the kids.
