I think we need to put some actual numbers behind this before we panic. The U.S. consumes roughly 29 BILLION pounds of beef per year, or about 7.1 BILLION pounds in a 90-day period. The temporary import allowance is up to 300,000 metric tons — about 661 MILLION pounds — over those 90 days. That works out to roughly 9% of the beef Americans consume during that same 90-day period, and only about 2–3% of our annual consumption.

We already have historically tight cattle supplies and a herd that needs time to rebuild. I understand the concern from producers, but I also think the panic and constant sharing on social media can create fear and volatility in the cattle market that may ultimately hurt producers more than this temporary amount of imported beef itself.

Sometimes the reaction to the headline can do more damage than the actual numbers behind it.

Remember Rolling Stone 5134? Resource 003 x Rock 7200, the High selling bull in the 2025 sale at Skyline Angus for $100,000.00 for half interest, half possession for a valuation of $200,000.00. He return home to Rafter B Cattle in Hamilton, MT today, after a full breeding season here at Skyline Angus, 6 weeks at Hoffman AI Breeders, and now on for a fall breeding season.
Thats a lot to expect out of a yearling bull, but he has kept condition, still perfect footed, big topped, big middle and full of masculinity, this bull is fixing to set waves in the business. We are excited to see his off spring and even more excited to share them with you!

Big shout out to these young men heading into there sophomore football season! They were the ranch hands this summer... not only did they keep the ranch moving forward, they gave us the best stress free summer we have had, all why learning on the fly. I can tell you this, if these boy show that kind of determination, willingness to finish a job, all with a big old smile, even on the days it felt like we were losing! They are gonna go place and have success on the field, school, and life. Excited to get to watch and be apart of it!

Rest in Peace Kevin Mytty.
This was the first bull I purchased from Mytty Angus; I was darn proud. At that time, Skyline Angus had about 30 cows. As a one-bull customer, he always made time for us and treated us as if we were his biggest customer. I would be lying if I didn't tell you I thought he was the mecca of the Angus business, and seeing his operation and cattle made me start the dream we are living today!
The way he ran the business and treated his customers was always to do it the right way, and that is exactly how we try to do it today. As I sit in the sale barn he built, getting ready to head to his funeral, I know I have big shoes to fill and a heck of a legacy to carry on. Speaking of legacies, I got to be a part of Riley Mytty's first cattle purchase this year and be there to put the old KM brand back on the left shoulder of two bulls Riley purchased in our sale and 30 pairs. Both bulls are out of Mytty cows! Your dad would be proud, Riley!

Heres to Kevin Myttys legacies, and the man who did it right, tell we meet agian
