Our next TOPP workshop is a field trip to Winter Kissed Farm - formerly MGVC in Stevensville, MT! Winter Kissed Farm is the largest wintertime grower of fresh greens in the Intermountain West with over an acre of passive-solar greenhouses. This is the time of year when successional plantings of spinach, kale and baby bok choy need to be planted in order to maximize sunlight energy. This workshop is scheduled to provide participants with the information and cultural practices you'll need to combat winters in our challenging climate and provide food for both your household and your community. A CSA member tagged us in this insightful take on our country’s food supply. It’s so true. We pay taxes so that our roads are paved, children are educated, police and court systems are staffed, and so that many other public services are provided. We can and should expect more from our country’s food system. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Another year; another kickass batch of fermented pickles for the Winter CSA.

It only took:
- 225 cucumber plants that were seeded March 2026 to provide nourishment into 2027

- 420 pounds of 🥒

- one amazing farmer Tenyssa Ruzek who harvested grape leaves for the ferment

-one mother who grew those grapes and leaves to fruition

- two other harvesters and cucumber fruit washers

- all the CSA members who returned their pint jars in 2025 (and saved our farm $$ and the landfill space)

- a four person crew of Back to the Mother Fermenters who sliced, salted, spiced and filled cukes into the fermentation vessels

Just give it a few weeks and we’ll have more sunshine spears for your Winter parties 🥳🥳🎉❄️❄️❄️

Proud to be a part of this union on a day like today when they publicly announce support for the The Montana Plan: I-194!

Katie participated in the Montana Farmers Union DC “fly in” week of advocacy last year along with ~15 other union members. She was pressed to do a ton of research and preparation to make arguments on behalf of other members to our Montana delegation of senators and representatives and their congressional staffers. They came back from the experience knowing more about the machine of DC. This is the type of free speech and political advocacy work that will be emboldened by the Montana Plan. And it’s why our farm has joined a coalition of hundreds of other small businesses that have endorsed the initiative. We hope you’ll vote “Yes on I-194”! ☑️✅☑️🥕🥕🥕
