Sober Farm

Sober Farm Personal Private Farm Sober Farm. Growing in Recovery! There is a solution. Resident safety and well-being are paramount. We are planting the seeds of change.

Because recovery from the disease of alcoholism absolutely requires a change of perspective, we offer a 90-day program for those who have demonstrated a prior minimum of 30 days of sobriety, usually new graduates from a treatment program. Experience and statistics reveal that treatment is often simply not enough when the alcoholic/addict goes directly back to his or her former setting after profes

sional treatment. The longer the length of early, continuous sobriety, the better the chances of life long recovery; hence the 90 day term of residence. We work with up to 6 residents at a time to build the sobriety skills necessary to live a full life without alcohol/drug addiction. The opportunity to practice living sober before the alcoholic/addict returns to their former families, friends, and workplace, is essential to the success of their long-term recovery. Living in fellowship and with the support of others who understand chemical addiction is the ideal way for sufferers of alcoholism/addiction to feel both helped and helpful, worthy, and capable. Daily meetings with housemates, outside community meetings and volunteer opportunities, garden and livestock chores, and on premise group activities inspire learning the tools needed when learning to live sober in accountability to oneself and to others. Reworking of selfish and self-centered attitudes in favor of understanding and interest in the care of others will be a daily practice. One day at a time, we will build confidence in sober living through support, sober fun, genuine compassion for each individual’s personal journey, and by the practice of doing the things sober which formerly would inspire the alcoholic/addict to use. Complete honesty, responsibility, accountability, humility, gratitude, trust and faith in a Higher Power are central keys to healthy recovery. These practices are the foundation for the alcoholic/addict and their family and friends to experience a full, productive, meaningful and happy life, maintaining their sobriety even during difficult times. We have a zero tolerance policy regarding drug or alcohol use during their stay. Damage to any property and premises will be grounds for immediate dismissal from our farmstead community. Applicants will be interviewed, screened and background checked. We learn healthy eating while growing chemical free crops (seasonally) and raising free and happy hens, who also eat chemically free. The farmstead is a place of peace, serenity, and positive energy. Our Sober Farm is a metaphor for recovery to many people in many ways. New beginnings in nature happen daily here. They provide evidence that people, seasons, and lives change. Personal recovery and growth will be found in this ideal setting as our perspectives of ourselves, and the world change. We are worthy, we are imperfectly imperfect, and we are grateful to be contributors in the world, just as it gives to us every day. The farmstead home is a peaceful, simple, safe, dignified place for the individual to enjoy the journey back to living fully and meaningfully. Welcome.

Snackalicious! Growing organic food for my family does my soul good. I'm thankful for asparagus; it inspires me to keep sowing seeds for annual produce. "If you want potatoes, ya gotta pick up the hoe."

Whatever you think or do regularly becomes a habit, a strongly conditioned pathway in the brain. The more you think about what can go wrong, the more your mind is primed to anticipate trouble. The more you lash out in anger, the more your body and mind are geared toward aggression. The more you think about how you might help others, the more your mind and heart are inclined to be generous. Just as weight lifting builds muscles, the way you direct your attention can strengthen anxiety, hostility, and addiction, or it can lead you to healing and awakening. -Radical Acceptance

It is allowed, under certain circumstances, like 8Β° and I'm out of organic half and half, to employ "make it do, or do without." Cool Whip!

Excerpt from Daily Reflections:

"My Higher Power created me for a purpose in life. I ask Him to accept my honest efforts to continue on my journey in the spiritual way of life. I call on Him for strength to know and seek His will."

We'll be seeking His will forever while living this earthly experience. Two and a half years ago, Todd and I began our mission to buy, build, and create Sober Farm. Never once was our mission unloved or spiritually crushing. Human affirmations of our purpose arrived at the door seeking fellowship, honesty, and recovery. To live in service to those who suffer, to participate in the miracle of recovery has been a gift. Hardship, disappointment, success and elation equally point us toward growth, and I see that as a compass in my purpose for being here at all.

Sober Farm has wrapped her imperfect earthy love around her last resident yesterday. Just as the souls who have come and gone have done, Todd and I will continue to seek God's will for us in new ways going forward, living in the Great Mystery.

I'm grateful to all who have helped along the way. My heart and soul thank you.

This is essential, perfectly says the truth about the disconnect that brought us to our knees, and the way to a confident life in trust (Faith).
