this two layer 6 inch cake was made with a cream cheese frosting filling & crumb coat and a buttercream finish for all the piping and details.
finished in shades of olive and sage with a few little pearls and gold accents - because sometimes getting a tini bit older deserves a whole damn cake🥂🎂

🌾 friendly sourdough reminder 🌾

you do not have to bake your bread the second your starter hits peak. if your starter is well established, active and consistently strong, you can absolutely bake with it after peak…even when it’s technically considered “discard”!
i just pulled this beautiful (yet, a little crisp 🤭) loaf out of the oven that was technically made with discard 😂
the important part is knowing your starter and understanding how it behaves. peak activity is a great guideline but it’s not a magical expiration time where your starter suddenly stops working. so: if you’ve got a mature, healthy starter sitting past peak…don’t automatically toss it or disregard the fact that you can still make that loaf you were wanting to make!
sometimes that “discard” is still perfectly capable of making some damn good bread 🫶🏼🍞

not every flavor is going to be a winner…but…that’s kind of the point! playing around with different combinations is great practice and you never really know what’s going to work until you try it! so, in between baking everything that’s already on the menu, i’m making it a goal to start experimenting with some new flavors, combinations and ideas. some might make their way onto the menu as limited-time specials and some might…well…stay in the kitchen 😂
either way, i’m excited to see what we come up with! 🤘🏼😋🤍
