State horse trails open next Friday, May 1—are you ready to saddle up? 🐴🏇
Make sure you have your Horse Pass for the season! With over 1,000 miles of trails through designated state trails, state parks and state forests, you'll find adventure wherever you go with your hooved companion. Get your Horse Pass now: mndnr.gov/horsepass
Your Horse Pass directly supports the horse trails and equestrian campgrounds managed by the DNR. All riders over the age of 16 must have a Minnesota Horse Pass in order to ride on horse trails in state parks, state forests and on state trails. Keep a signed physical copy in your back pocket, or take photos of both sides of your pass to carry it digitally in your phone.
A note on multi-use trails: when meeting other users on the same trail, communication is key! Be prepared to slow down or even stop and say a friendly greeting to announce yourselves to each other. Ask how to best pass, and be prepared to yield to others. Do not approach animals without permission, and always keep dogs on leash. This etiquette will go a long way in preventing injury to everyone on the trail.
