Arcola Trail Flower Farm

10/06/2026

Just returned from two fantastic Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers, Inc. farm tours at 3 Porch Farm in Georgia and Petal Pickers in South Carolina. These are two farms on my bucket list of farms to visit due to their wonderful owners who have evolved and innovated throughout their farming journey and share their knowledge generously. We also had a bonus day in Clemson SC organized by ASCFG Exec Director, Steve Crone, where we visited the Botanical Gardens and the Biosystems Research Complex at Clemson University. Fun to meet new farmers and to spend time with old friends. As the last in-person ASCFG event this year, it was also my last event as a Board member for the past six years. We also honored Val Schirmer as she ends her tenure as ASCFG President and 11 years of Board service. Val has been a superb leader and friend due to her commitment to community and her ability to connect and communicate with everyone. She lead the Association through major transitions over the past 5 years. Thank you, Val!

What a beautiful reception yesterday! Loved the vision the bride had about color and style for the outside venue in Marine. Thanks to Alison Pink Moon Farm for her help and incredible design skills. We used the seasonal flowers grown on the farm to create airy arrangements and complementary bud vases. August abundance!

May is such a busy month (so is June) working to get all the plants in the ground. Now that we finally got some rain, the plants are happy and so are the weeds! We are starting our 12th season flower farming and hope you will follow along and find an opportunity to visit the farm for a class or a pick your own event. If you want to purchase a flower subscription this season, it's not too late to sign up for six fresh bouquets throughout the summer. Go to the website https://www.arcolatrailflowerfarm.com/fresh-flowers for more information. Keep going, keep growing!

I'm so excited to team up with Marine Mills Folk School to offer two classes at Arcola Trail Flower Farm this summer. You will get a tour of the farm, cut some flowers, and make a centerpiece to take home. I will provide tips on flower arranging and will be joined by Alison of Wildly Grounded. I guarantee you will fall in love with the beauty of locally grown flowers!

April on the farm is BUSY!! We are working on sowing trays of seeds and unpacking some of the started plugs we order. It's a little early to plant outside, but there is much to do to prepare the beds and soil to get ready to plant in May. We will also unpack 1000 dahlia tubers over the next few weeks and divide them before planting. News about our flower subscription, classes and events will be coming soon. Follow along!

Here in Minnesota we don't have anything blooming yet, but here's what we will be doing over the next couple months to get ready for our 12th season growing flowers for you. Right now it's all about sowing seeds indoors under lights to create all the seedlings we will plant outside in May. Follow along to get information about where and when flowers will be available and the launch of our 2026 Flower Subscription and workshops.
