Missouri weather is sure bringing the DRAMA this week!

This afternoon I pulled off any mushrooms left on the logs. As you can see some of them are still a bit young and curled, but with the colder temps coming they won’t be able to mature.

Even harvested on the immature side, these mushrooms will still taste delicious!

This is your friendly reminder to bundle up and go harvest any mushrooms left on your logs before the freeze tonight!

Old shiitake logs and composted manure are the perfect additions to provide drainage and nutrients for the new planter boxes.

So excited to be able to repurpose the less productive logs to produce more food for our family!

Fellow Foragers!!

Morel season is upon us! Here are a few tips to keep you happy and healthy as you embark on your spring adventures!

✔️ Make sure you understand how to identify morels or go with an experienced buddy
✔️ Cook before you eat!!
✔️ If you are not 💯 sure of your identification skills- save a small piece of your mushroom for the ER doc to show them what you ate 😳
✔️ Only eat one wild mushroom at a time! Mixing species makes it more difficult to treat poisoning

Most inedible mushrooms won’t kill you.. but you may wish they did!

Windy weather brought a couple of racks to the ground but on the bright side look at all the pretty green 💚
