Ah, the signs of spring. Babies being born, storms stirring the sky and eggs overflowing... also, a look back at the winter endured. We had two claves in January- one we struggled to keep warm as the temps turned bitterly cold and the other who's mother we sadly lost. Keeping animals warm with bedding the barn was made easier with all the helpers and they are starting to help butcher chickens as well.
Construction on the highway continues but there is always access to the farm even during the highway closure so if you're stopping by but arent certain how to navigate the barricades that are up, let us know and we can direct you.

"And now we encounter a rare sight- the farm child, in their natural habitat. Feral, and without the distractions of screens and technology, they have spent so much time wallowing and rooting in the mud that a small piglet has escaped the pen from its mother to get a closer look at what it has to be thinking are more members of the swine family... United States farmers are getting pennies to the dollar for the food they produce! When the grocery bill goes up it has nothing to do with the farmer and, in fact, it does not increase their income whatsoever. It is no wonder that there are less and less farms all the time. But, buying local and direct from farmers is a great way to cut out so many "middle men". Knowing where your food comes from, how it was raised and what it was fed is a great way to establish food independence and ensure optimal nutrition.
We have pasture raised, organically fed pork available at the end of April (whole or halves)- message for info!
