Magna started us off 17 days early with “Fall” calving yesterday, a 59 lbs bull calf out of 097L!
I found her laying down by the spring (one of her FAVORITE places to be on a hot summer day) and noticed she appeared to have calved… when I found no calf and no cleanings, I assumed it somehow wasn’t here yet. Well, she didn’t take off when I walked towards her, so I knew something had to be keeping her in the area. My next pass I look over at the spring and went “surely it’s not in there” he surely was in there 😅
A quick pull out of the mud, a hose down to get all that muck off of him, a trip to the house for some energy, antibiotics and electrolytes (102* yesterday 😵💫) he then went back to mama for the night. He’s thankfully up and going this morning—while he’s still not fully out of the woods and has another scorcher of a day ahead of him, he’s thankfully on the mend. He’ll be getting more electrolytes as soon as MFA opens at 8!
Welcome to the world 2611!
