I am so lucky to have such a fun, active spinning group that meets once a month but we don't always spin but try out many new craft projects. February was learning how to make soap and I am totally excited & am already planning a line of All About Country soaps. The soaps pictured were from that day, made in muffin cups but my line will be more rustic outdoor fragrances, no not barn yard smells.
Also been doing a lot of spinning this winter as practice makes perfect but I actually love the homespun look of my yarns.

I have been a little pokey keeping up with my page but had a request for some pictures of my alpaca items for Christmas gifts hence some new photo's.

The felt alpaca hats & mittens (includes the stretch glove to be worn inside) are $25.00 each & hats are one size fits most.

The needle felted hats are more time consuming and sell for $40.00 each & one size fits most.

I have numerous crocheted hats, scarfs etc. in addition to yummy this years fleece made into yarn but the beauty of the yarns seem to get lost in a photo. I will be doing two craft shows before Christmas and will post the dates & times as they approach.

Enjoy!

Kudos to Carmella Crandall on a successful Sheep to Shawl Expo on Saturday in Spooner, WI. This was both educational & fun for all the attendees & educators as there were sheep, alpacas, llamas & rabbits to show different types of fiber. Sheep were sheared, from there the fleece went to a skirting table (to remove debri), to the carder (aligns fiber for spinning) and to the spinner to be made into yarn. Inside were tables with finished items, demonstrations & hopefully educating of what goes into the finished, natural products. Great day for family & kids which included face painting, felting of soap & animal interaction.....the children are the next generation of knitters, spinners & all related talents used by many of our ancestors.

I belong to a wonderful group of ladies who all share a common love of fiber. We meet once a month at each others home and usually do a fiber project. Last month each of us were to bring one pound of skirted, wash fiber & any adornment we wanted to include in the batts. From that point a very talented Kathy Melton took the fiber to Blue Hills Fiber Mill owned byRidgley Richert who is a fiber artists genius, and they processed the batts which can be used for spinning yarn, needle felting, wet felting etc. No two batts where exactly alike and were made trying to use your fibers plus others combo. I just could not fully capture the true bea

On Sunday my white amazon alpaca dam, Layla, delivered a beautiful long legged male sired from Ravendance Onxy. She is a great Mom & love, love his coloring. Black head & black legs but dark brown body. He may turn complete black as he ages. The lovely young lady in the last three pictures is my granddaughter Lexi helping me out!

Sunday as I was watching my two overdue dams, Indian Summer proceeded to deliver a huge, 21 # girl dressed in true black. Summer wasn't due until end of this week & I had thought she maybe going to had twins but thank goodness she didn't wait that long as this is the biggest baby so far born on my farm. She is a tall as my two week old crias & was up in five minutes looking for the milk bar (she is still wet in picture). Great job Summer & congrats Ravendance Onyx. Still wait for the overdue girls!
