Just a reminder that Basil Family Farm will be at Hairston Crossing Library (4911 Redan Rd) tomorrow at 6pm hosting a FREE fall gardening workshop. Come out and let’s talk plants!

If you've been saying, "I really want to start a garden someday..." consider this your friendly nudge from God (or maybe just from me 😄). Fall is one of the best—and easiest—times to start gardening here in Georgia.


During the workshop, you'll learn which vegetables, herbs, and flowers grow best in the fall, along with practical tips to help you garden with confidence, whether you're growing in a backyard, raised bed, or a few containers on your patio.



And here's my favorite part... a Basil Family Farm plant sale will following the workshop, so you can leave with healthy, locally grown seedlings and start putting what you learned into practice that very day. No more saying, "I'll start next season." 😊

I have some exciting news! Due to the interest I've received, I've added one more Fall Gardening 101 workshop date. 🎉

🍅 "Why are my tomatoes splitting?" you ask yourself.

Well, listen here, sis. 😅 Georgia's weather might be the culprit... or your watering schedule.

When tomatoes go through a dry spell and then suddenly get a lot of water (whether from heavy rain or a deep watering), the inside of the tomato grows faster than the skin can stretch. The result? Splitting.

The good news? Split tomatoes are usually still safe to eat if you harvest them quickly before insects or disease move in.

🌱 To help prevent splitting:
• Water consistently, especially during hot weather.
• Add mulch to help the soil hold moisture.
• Harvest tomatoes as soon as they begin to ripen if heavy rain is in the forecast.

Don't worry—it's happened to every gardener at least once! 🍅❤️
