There is a new farmer in the Field of Dreams tending to all the plants that are part of the popular exhibit that showcases crops grown in North Carolina and helps kids and adults make the connection between these plants and the food they eat.

Jason Davis is no stranger to farming or ag education. After 14 years serving as the State FFA Coordinator and six years as a high school ag teacher, Davis now serves as Associate Dean of the School of Agriculture and Biological Sciences at the University of Mount Olive and an associate professor. FARMING THROUGH HISTORY

Today in agriculture history:
Birth of Upton Sinclair (1878): Born on September 20, 1878, the American author wrote The Jungle (1906). His terrifying, detailed exposé of the unsanitary conditions within Chicago’s meatpacking districts shocked the public consciousness and directly forced the passage of the federal Meat Inspection Act and the Pure Food and Drug Act, modernizing how food safety is regulated globally.
