2024 marks 110 years of farming for Doyle's Acres Farm. As we gear up for another year of growing crops, selling feed and raising cattle, we take a moment to look back to where it all began.

Our farm was bought in 1914 by James and Mildred Doyle. The property contained a Barn, a shed and the farm house. James and Mildred had 13 sons and daughters. James had a small dairy herd. He also had working horses which he used for logging, sugaring and field work. One of their sons, Kenneth Doyle stayed to work on the farm to help his father, becoming the second generation to work full time on the farm. The two of them worked hard to make the farm thrive and grow. This involved building a new tie stall barn to house more cattle. As time moved forward James and Mildred passed but new life was brought to the farm. Kenneth married Lois Tullar and they had three children. Their son, Timothy Doyle, soon began to show his love for farming making the third generation to work on the farm. He worked with his father to run the farm, building new barns, modern for their time. In the early 90s he became a partner of the farm as got ready to enter a new century. Timothy married Dawn Crossley and they too had three children. Their oldest Keely showing a love for animals and their youngest Mason showing a love for equipment and livestock, generation four.

Fast forward to 2011, due to the decline in milk demand and prices. The need for new barns, equipment and an uncomfortable amount of growing and uncertainty of the future we decided to sell the dairy herd and stick solely to the growth and sales of hay and corn.

In 2022 Timothy and Mason decided it had been too long without cattle on the farm and have since slowly built up a herd of 28 beef cows. 2022 was also a special year as Keely brought Magnolia Murphy into the world, making five generations to have lived on the farm. Pictured below is generation five looking back almost 100 years to generation one and two. As we hope many more generations are to follow in our farming footsteps.
