Milk storage in the goat and sheep udder.

In small dairy ruminants, 30% of the milk is stored in the alveoli, while the remaining 70% resides in the udder cistern and a small percent in the gland cistern.
However, variations occur based on the breed and the stage of lactation. The quantity of milk in the udder cistern may fluctuate between 25% and 70%, but it typically exceeds 50%.
