🌱 Rotational grazing isn’t just good for the pigs—it’s good for the pasture, too.

Giving each area time to rest allows the plants and soil to recover and keeps the pasture productive.

🐔 Farm Shenanigans: Freedom!

Every time we move the chicken tractor, 33 meat birds get a few minutes of freedom.

And they make the most of it. 😂

Chickens running everywhere.
Chickens exploring.
Chickens scattering in every direction.

It looks like complete chaos...

Until the food goes in the trough.

Then suddenly all 33 chickens remember exactly where they live and head right back into their tractor. 😂🐔

Temporary freedom.
Maximum chaos.
One trough full of food = problem solved.

🐷 So, what does “rotationally grazed” actually mean?

It’s more than simply putting pigs on pasture. The way the pasture is managed matters, too. 🌱

🐷 Looks like Porky has earned himself a little recognition around here!

He may have only been with us a few months, but he's already found his place in the herd—and apparently found a way to keep Sentry on his toes. 😂

Congratulations, Porky! 🏆🐷

Come join us at The District in Pryor. We will be here until 7. Looking forward to seeing you.

🐷WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH THE PIGS?

Our transition from American Guinea Hogs to Large Blacks is underway!

American Guinea Hogs:
• Tag — Our retired sow is staying right here, enjoying retirement as our lawn mower. Who knew ragweed could put on so much weight?! 😂
• YoureIt — Still with Tag most of the time. His future is still a little uncertain.
• Wilbur — Staying with us for several more years and will be bred to our Large Black girls to produce slightly smaller offspring.
• Ivan — Staying with Wilbur.
• Mo — Our breeding sow; she'll need a new home before our Large Black females mature.
• 4 grow-outs remain.

Large Blacks:
We currently have one pig we're pretty sure is a Large Black cross. We brought him in as a test run before committing to the breed—and we're loving his personality (and those HUGE ears! 😂).

And the next step is already planned: two Large Black piglets will be coming home from Arkansas this spring to become our new sows. We're expecting them around March or April, once they're weaned.

🐷 It's a transition, not an overnight change—and we're excited to see where it takes us! 🌱
