My wife, Laura, and I started Spirit Beef in November 2016, though we officially started raising beef about 3 years ago. I grew up farming and ranching with my dad, who has been in the agricultural industry for decades. He is the reason I have a love for this way of life and the knowledge required to pursue it. My wife grew up in the mountains of Montana and also has a family background in agricul
ture. I believe “A man with dreams needs a woman with vision” and therefore we make a perfect pair. We met while serving in the U.S. Air Force and married in 2010. After having our three children, we decided it best to raise our family in the country, the way I grew up. Now, here we are, raising natural, grass fed beef for families all over the state to enjoy. About Our Beef
My vision began when I realized the beef market had turned to corporate ranching, focusing on quantity, not quality. It became my goal to start a business that disregarded the corporate approach to raising cattle and instead took a more holistic approach to the cattle industry. Here at Spirit Beef, we focus on the quality of the meat as well as the quality of life of the cow. Our cattle live a comfortable life grazing on 200 acres of natural, high plains grass. In the winter months, we feed natural alfalfa and CRP hay. Here, they are free to live the life of a natural cow. This is extremely important to the spirit of happiness that is a part of all living things. We do not vaccinate, or feed GMO grains, proteins, distillers, or steroids. The cattle raised here also spend as little time as possible in the chute, which minimizes the amount of undue stress. Raising a cow under these standards may be more difficult than raising them as a feedlot would, but the end result is worth it. Our cows have a unique flavor and texture due to our ability to provide them a happy, healthy, natural life. Here at Spirit Beef, we want you to feel good about what you and your family eats. You can be confident knowing the cattle we share our earth with are being treated with compassion, respect, and integrity. Thank you for your business.
