Local chicken people, do we have any interest in hatching eggs and/or chicks this spring?! False spring has me excited, but I’m still trying to decide how much I’m willing to take on this spring.

I will be hatching to following for sure, for my own personal flock, so I’ll have some availability.

Swarm season is right around the corner! If you see a swarm of bees, don’t panic, call your local beekeeper and they will gladly come collect those sweet honey girls.

Bees swarm as a way to reproduce. When the colony is thriving and running out of room, the worker bees will decide it’s time to swarm. When a colony swarms, the queen and half of the worker bees leave to find a new home. The remaining bees will hatch out their new queen and continue business as usual.

Swarms will often land to rest on the way to their new homes, and are almost always docile. If you happen to come across a swarm, call your local beekeeper or just leave them bee. See what I did there. 😉🐝

I’ve got an extra dozen American Bresse hatching eggs available! Can be split into two half-dozens.

American Bresse are some of my very favorites. They are a dual purpose breed known for their marbled meat and blue legs. They finish out around sixteen weeks for processing and start laying around 20 weeks. They are some of my best layers!
