We have delicious, grass fed, Door County raised Icelandic lamb and mutton shares available this fall.

This mild flavored meat is high in Omega 3 fatty acids.

Lamb will come in whole and half shares in the cuts of your choice.

Mutton will come as ground and stew meat in quarter shares. We actually prefer the delicious flavor of the mutton!

Seconds after I took this pic, the sassy girl tried to go under the gate because she is tired of hay.

It’s so dry! 😩

Although the tourists love the sunny weather, our sheep have been on hay for about a month. With a limestone shelf inches under the soil in large swaths of our pasture, our ground is baked. There are days that it looked like it would rain, and didn’t. Other parts of the Midwest are getting pummeled with rain and heat and are facing other problems. This is the worst I’ve seen in six years of raising sheep.

The sheep are doing better than I thought, it’s just been a tough summer with the lack of rain, heat, humidity and wildfire smoke.

Meet Stjarni. A singleton for his mom Spola, he clocked in at 91 pounds at 98 days. Sweet and friendly like his mom, but his horns are tighter than I like for a ram and I’m afraid they will grow into his face. And he’s best buddies with our livestock dog Fudge. So he is staying and we are going to turn him into a wether so I can get his beautiful champagne colored fleece turned into lopi - and enjoy him as a pet. Then his horns won’t be an issue as they will be stunted from lack of manly hormones.

Beginning of the week, high 90s. Past couple days thick smoke from Northern Minnesota and NW Ontario. My heart goes out to the people in those areas. Our sheep are staying in the paddock until this clears up. And yes, climate change is real.
