Thereโs an old beekeeping tradition called โtelling the bees.โ
When someone died, especially the beekeeper, the family would go out to the hives and softly tell the bees. They believed the bees were part of the family tooโฆ and if they werenโt told, the bees might stop making honey, leave the hive, or die themselves from grief. Some families even draped the hives in black cloth during mourning.
Iโve always loved that tradition. The tenderness in it. The belief that the living things we care for every day become part of our story too.
This feels especially meaningful today, remembering the ones who are gone but still deeply woven into the lives they left behind. ๐๐บ๐ธ
