Monkshood Nursery was started as a potted herb nursery in 2001. Two years later, Monkshood leased an 82 acre parcel of land in Stuyvesant, New York and began growing vegetables for farmers markets. Since then, the farm has erected five greenhouses and produces salad greens and shoots year round, in addition to spring potted herbs, field vegetables, and greenhouse tomatoes! At some point, someone will ask, which is worth more, the processed products commonly known as milk, or the diesel fuel, soil degradation and subsequent communities destruction that it costs us.
