In 2014, Alex wrote in a letter to himself: "Dude, your life has changed in a drastic way by seeing God truly in everyone and feeling the great presence of Him here all around us and in us." Phillip Alexander "Alex" Bowman passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith. He will be remembered at Subiaco for his smile and generous heart.

In honor of Alex, his classmates and friends initiated a scholarship fund to assist day students with their senior year tuition costs at Subiaco Academy. In 2021, a $500 scholarship was awarded to Josh Bowman '22. In 2022, two $600 scholarships were awarded to Luke Castro '23 and Matthew Wewers '23. In 2023, two $1000 scholarships were granted to Caleb Cowell '24 and Connor Lamboy '24.

We would like to announce the winners of this year’s scholarships each recipient will receive $1000.

Marvin Menjivar ‘25, Jacob Grist ‘25, and Evan Everett ‘25

THIS IS THE WAY: Br. Sebastian has completed his first year of seminary formation at St. John's Seminary and School of Theology. He is home for a few weeks before heading out to the Mexican American Catholic College in San Antonio, TX, where he will spend eight weeks doing some initial Spanish language and cultural immersion work. Once he is ordained a deacon in a few years he will undertake a full immersion program in Mexico or Guatemala where we have sister Benedictine abbeys that have language schools. For the moment, Brother was enjoying some SONIC drinks as a treat to our Academy teachers and staff (he was not portraying Avalokiteshvara). Brother does not like beans, so we need to begin praying that he will suffice with the other fine Mexican-American culinary delights.
