At Black Mountain Kinders we have downsized our herd considerably because of life changes, and we are most grateful to people who have given goats we love good new homes. Six does and two bucks remain in our breeding program. Most of our lines are carried forward in them. Two other does and one wether round out the herd.

Update: Quinn has gone to a new home.

BMK Quinn is a friendly little cuss (not quite 25” tall) who wants to get his head into the feed bucket if he gets half a chance. He’s also looking for a new home; he just doesn’t know it yet. His one shot at fatherhood came because he seized an opportunity not intended for him, and he sired a lovely daughter who evaluated at an 86 (very good). He’s a highly motivated overachiever with an amusingly high pitched voice.

Update: Spock has gone to a new home.

More photos of BMK Spock. Spock suffered a case of meningeal worm when he was younger. We caught it and treated it in time to save him, but one hind leg is a little weak/stiff still. He still does well even among a group of bucks and carries genetics for more muscular haunches than he has today, because of that illness. He is looking for a new home.

Update: Kodiak has gone to a new home.

BMK Kodiak’s grandsire was a permanent grand champion born on this farm, and his dam has a lovely udder. His parents are Rustic Acres Phineas and Pricker Patch Honeybee. He was evaluated as “very good” and he’s looking for a new home, whether as a herd sire or a member of a grounds crew. (He has some fellow crew members in mind.) Since a health issue is profoundly changing our lives and we are on a timeline, he needs to find that new home very soon. Please PM if interested.

UPDATE: Gingersnap and Chloe have a new home lined up!

We are offering a rock-bottom special price for remaining available goats, good through the end of July (or into August with a reservation and deposit). We could be more leisurely about downsizing our herd (and thereby radically simplifying chores) were it not for a serious health issue that has cropped up. If anyone wants a backyard starter herd, Chloe, Gingersnap, Quinn (in the video below), and Spock could work.

Kodiak should not go with Chloe and Gingersnap, as he is a half sibling, but he has matured into a tank. He's worth considering as a herd sire independently of the others. His full sisters evaluated with max scores for does not in milk.

Individual listings are below. I do not want to send some of these goats to auction in August and others to the butcher in September if anyone can offer them a good home and benefit from delicious Kinder milk (and meat, if desired). — Elizabeth Sweet, Black Mountain Kinders

Update: Will has gone to a new home. I was on the fence about letting him go to the very end.

BMK Will is a buck I will try to keep if he doesn’t find a good new home, but he is available. He’s out of Sovereign Kinders Nash and BMK Dahlia. He wasn’t evaluated the day the evaluator came. We couldn’t get to everyone so I started picking goats to skip. He has good body depth, very good udder/milking genetics, and his long teats bode well for his daughters. He comes over for head scratches once he gets accustomed to the people who take care of him. He’s our tallest buck. He might be 27 or 28 inches at the withers. I’ll have to measure him.

BMK Spock is one of Kodiak’s shed mates and is unrelated to Kodiak. He is out of BMK Will and BMK Cinder. Like Kodiak he’s shy, but yesterday he decided that I am permitted to give back acratches! This is a big development. He evaluated with a score of 81 (the low end of the “very good” range). He is actually in better condition now and might score a little higher if he were reevaluated today.
