A little fall fun, a little friendly competition, and another week of making room for one another around the table.

We're keeping the good stuff coming this week at Sojourn, with a few extra reasons to gather!

🪾Wood and Time ⏳

We’re a l***r brewery, so we’re accustomed to things taking time. To the ideals of process over expediency. So when we brewed our anniversary b**r in the spring, we had the long run in mind.

Baltic Porters are already an under-brewed style. Doing one collaboratively, with friends in earth and wood (we’re looking at you Birdsong Peanuts and RedWood Smoke Shack | Texas BBQ) imbued so much time and place. The b**r was stunning (and has been gone for a while now).

HOWEVER…
We foresaw this. We knew what b**rs born from faces + places could do. So we took half of the batch of that beautiful porter and gently laid it into freshly dumped bourbon barrels.
Not just any barrels either. Fresh barrels. Barrels that held Bowman’s bourbon for almost 10 years. Barrels born of the care and culture of Virginia. Barrels stewarded by the expert hands of Master Distiller David Brock.

This is the first barreled b**r brewed and emptied on-site at Sojourn. It’s Suffolk in a glass.

It’s so good, and it’s ALMOST ready for you. But the best things are worth waiting for. This one can’t just be another release. This one deserves a party. And boy howdy, will it be a party.

Stay tuned friends. We are human, after all.

🍁🍂Let’s take a poll. Are we in false fall currently Hampton Roads, or is it officially sweata whetha? 🍂🍁

Whichever one it is, the ability to open these doors on a crisp day gives us the idea Autumn is finally settling in and we are pumped!! Our monthly pizza and Sunday Suppers are sending it home with all the warm and cozy table vibes…we are ready!!! Only time will tell, but let us know you thoughts in the comments and be sure to check out this weeks line up!

We’re kicking off the week with our FIRST TUESDAY: STORY TIME (12-2pm)
Created especially with our homeschool families and early learners in mind, Story Time is a chance to get out of the house, meet other families and turn an ordinary Tuesday into something worth remembering. Last month was a “whoot” going Back To Wizarding School.

🦋 This month, we’re talking MONARCHS.

We’ll follow the incredible story of the monarch butterfly and welcome a **special guest** to help us learn a little more about these tiny travelers and the world around us.

Bring the kids. Grab some lunch. Stay awhile. Meet another family. We’re out here doing life together!

The rest of the week, the tables are here for whatever you need them to be. A lunch date, an after-work pint, pizza with the family, a long-overdue catch-up or simply somewhere to land for a bit.

There’s a lot happening inside these walls every week, but the reason behind it will always be to give people a place to find one another!

WE’RE GROWING OUR KITCHEN TEAM.

Here at Sojourn, the kitchen is part of how we take care of people and our Nourishment Team is rock solid at it!!

Every pizza and dish sent across the pass lands at a table where something is happening. Friends are catching up, families are sharing dinner, someone is celebrating or maybe they just needed a place to land for a while.

We’re looking for a few awesome humans who want to be part of that with us.

We’re looking for chefs who care about their craft and are team players while working hard and laughing often. Those who have the desire to keep learning and take a little pride in knowing they helped make someone’s day better.

Experience is wonderful. Character matters more.

Thank you to Schilling B**r Co. , the entire Schilling team, and Jeff Cozzens for welcoming us to Schilling Oktoberfest.
Our trip to Littleton, NH was everything we hoped it would be: beautiful fall foliage, a town full of character, world-class l***r, and the kind of hospitality that reminds us why b**r matters beyond the glass.

Sojourn Fermentory has always been deeply inspired by classic European brewing traditions, especially the patience, and care behind great l***r b**r. To spend time at Schilling, surrounded by brewers, friends, and b**r lovers who share that same respect for tradition, was both meaningful and energizing for our team.
We are grateful for the invitation, the conversations, and the chance to share space with so many people who care deeply about brewing, hospitality, and community. It was especially meaningful to reconnect with old friends and make new ones along the way.
Schilling Oktoberfest is a beautiful reminder that great b**r is not just made. It is gathered around. It is traveled for. It is shared with people who understand the care, patience, and purpose behind it.

Thank you again to Jeff, the Schilling team, and everyone who made the weekend so memorable. We left Littleton inspired, grateful, and full of appreciation.

The weekend is finally here and we have ZERO intention of thinking about Monday. Tonight we’re kicking our boots up outside for Line Dancing with shayanweston from 7-10 and have the lovely Wuby Wings here with some of the coolest spoon rings we’ve ever seen at 5pm. Bucket cocktails also start at 5pm! 🪣🍸

You heard all about our new monthly pizza yesterday from Josh, but some of us eat with our eyes first. So check out this beauty!!

October’s Sunday Suppers inspired this one. It’s comforting, familiar flavors reimagined for the pizza oven. Roasted chicken, mirepoix, fennel, red onion, and mozzarella over a white base, finished with arugula and balsamic drizzle 🤤

If we’ve ever had a pizza that screamed “sweata wetha” or “fall” it’s this one. We cannot wait to see you this weekend whether we’re dancing, jamming out to Mudflap BOYZ or gathering around the table on Sunday.

Welcome to the table! We’ve been waiting to share this new monthly pizza with you and really dive into the human nature of gathering at the table.

Our October pizza is live now and Sunday Suppers are waiting for you starting this week.

Cheers to nourishment of the body and mind, while being centered around one common past time.

We’ve been gathering around tables for centuries.

Before reservations. Before screens. Before we had a hundred ways to stay connected without ever sitting across from one another.

There was the table.

It’s where we passed food from hand to hand. Where stories got better with every telling. Where neighbors became friends. Where someone always pulled over another chair when one more person showed up.

We still believe in that kind of place.

This week there are plenty of reasons to find your way to Sojourn. Trivia on Monday. Pie & Pint on Tuesday. Music Bingo on Wednesday. Miles together with VOYAGE on Thursday. Line dancing on Friday. A Saturday worth lingering over.

But this Sunday, we begin something new that feels a lot like something very old.

🍽️SUNDAY SUPPERS

A reason to gather around the table again.

Not for an occasion. Not because you accomplished something. Not because the calendar told you it was time to celebrate.

Just to eat together.

To pass something across the table.
To ask another question.
To tell the story.
To stay for a while.

Our kitchen will be making supper. We’ll pour the b**r, c***r and w**e. You bring the people.

And if you come without them, maybe you’ll meet a few here.

Sunday Suppers begin this Sunday at Sojourn.

Let’s slow down together…
Congratulations, you’ve officially made it to FALL!!! It’s not just us right? A crispness to the wind. Days a little more overcast, sun setting earlier. It makes us want to huddle together over good food, good b**r, and good conversation.

Enter Sunday Suppers at Sojourn.

EVERY Sunday evening from 5pm-close we’re leaning not only into the season, but into each other. Gathering around the table is one of the most impactful things we as humans do, for both community AND individual health. So we’ve got two thinks kicking off as the calendar turns to October.

First, a monthly rotating pizza highlighting the season. We honestly had so much fun with our friends from redwoodsmoke making a special pizza for our anniversary. Getting to do that more often just makes sense. BUT, more on the pizza later.

Second, a full, family-style affair only available to close out the week on Sunday evenings. We’re building this in formats meant to feed two or four-five (check stories for October’s menu). The tablecloths will be out. The family platter takes center stage. All so we can do just a little more life together.

We’re so glad to be with you all, learning, living, and growing out on Virginia’s coast. We can’t wait to see you.

SOJO FAM 😎 the vibes this week are calling us to lean into all the fall wonders heading our way, eat the dang pizza, gather around amazing music, and make a little more room for incredible local art.

The human experience. The creative nature of people. THAT IS THE VIBE. 👏

We’re looking forward to meeting you around the table! Cheese stretching, glasses clinking, conversations getting good. Maybe, just maybe, a song hits your soul hard enough to lead you straight into your finest (and completely unsolicited) a ca****la moment.

🎶 THURSDAY
Acoustic Carnival is coming to Sojourn for the very first time, and we could not be more excited to welcome this incredible crew of singer-songwriters into our space.

There’s something special about hearing music stripped down to the humans who wrote it, the stories behind it, and a room full of people willing to listen.

🎨 FRIDAY
is joining us for ART RAID kicking off at 5 PM in the Biergarten!!

Much like our tiny Picasso did a few weeks ago, the full expression of art and human creativity MUST be given the reign for full expression.

Then, just outside our doors, Bridgeport Suffolk’s CAY NIGHTS Concert Series keeps the energy going from 6–9PM.

Art. Music. Pizza. Pints. People making things. People sharing things. People actually spending time together.

It’s a week for peopling again. Come on in, the waters fine!

Come hungry. Come curious. Come ready to listen, create, laugh, sing badly, sing beautifully, or just sit at the table and take it all in.
