Our kids are getting bigger! This is one of my favorite things every evening. We call it the running of the kids. They come in from outside. They go down the aisle and they go into their sleeping space for the evening.

We had a great kidding year, and have goats of all ages and sizes looking for new pasture. This is a herd reduction year for us, so we have quality does in milk, doelings, two terrific adult bucks, and many wethers and bucklings. Start here to see: www.storybookfarmwv.com. We are building a retirement home on our property, and yesterday I took a video from our new deck. CAN'T WAIT to make this my home sweet home!

Well, it's that time of year. The time I have to decide which of my beloved does I can keep, and which ones I need to share. It's a bit worse this year, because we really have TOO MANY goats, and after nine years of careful breeding, and culling, and breeding so more, none of my girls is a cull anymore. Sigh.

Also, we need to reduce our buck herd, so I'm letting two of my favorites go. I'm glad we have their daughters! Double sigh.

But I really have to do a herd reduction this year. Have to. So, here's the page so far... there may be a few more added before summer comes. 😔 I'm hoping that many other farms will be blessed by those we choose to share.

This year we had three bottle boys: two rejected twins and one quad who couldn't get the hang of nursing from his momma's fat teat soon enough. This is our one-person method!

We are doing our last milk test for the year today... six does out of 18 who started are still in milk! Two are first fresheners. :-) Hoping for 3-5 milk stars this year, so a pretty good one for us. Meanwhile, we have 25 does bred and are bracing for kidagedden! We're pretty sure that they all settled, and I'm very excited about our pairings! It sure is pretty this week; but all the leaves will be down soon enough. Enjoy the week!
