Weekend Recap “Big Pig Jig”:
We went down to Vienna with the hope of riding our recent momentum into this prestigious Memphis BBQ Network sanctioned event. We decided to try whole hog this year and rented a cooker. We rolled in with high hopes Thursday and packed up and headed home happy on Sunday.
When the dust settled Saturday night we won the “Best Booth Contest”, and our results were:
•Whole Hog: 35th out of 37 entries “our goal was to not finish dead last in our first attempt, so we succeeded there. This is a tough category and a whole different ballgame, definitely not for the faint of heart.
•Stew: 24th out of 52 entries “we are still trying to perfect our recipe.”
•Chicken: 11th out of 54 entries “we stand by our chicken process,almost made the top 10.”
•Pork: 19th out of 92 entries “not a bad day, some really great, tough teams.”
•Ribs: 4th out of 101 entries “Man wow… we ended up in a 4 way tie with a perfect 600, just missed finals by a tie breaker. We are over the moon and you can’t tell us anything right now.”
Thanks to everyone that came by and that sent us well wishes this weekend. Cheryl, Jody and Annie for the help all weekend, Taylor Carrington Cobb for letting Jay come spend your anniversary with us “lol.”
Also special thanks to Robby Royal Rescue Smokers , Chuck & Carrie “Off the Chain” for stopping by and making sure we didn’t mess the hog up too bad lol. Thanks to Lonnie “Bubba Grills” for the quick demo on how to run one of his cookers. Thanks to That Sharpening Guy for keeping our knives ready to go.
This weekend we are headed to Cu***ng for the ABS Classic this will be our final event of the year.
