Throwback Thursday! 🍎🌳

A little throwback to our three boys, Michael, Benjamin, and Caleb, helping out at the orchard when they were kids!

The orchard has always been a big part of their lives. They grew up spending time here, helping with whatever needed to be done, and making plenty of memories along the way. It’s hard to believe those little boys in these pictures are now grown up with lives, families and kids of their own!

These days, they still come back and help out on the weekends, and often they bring their own kids along, too. We love seeing them experience a little bit of what their dads did growing up.

The orchard has been a family affair for a long time, and we’re pretty thankful that tradition continues! ❤️

So many years, so many memories, and now another generation growing up around the orchard. 🍎

Labor Day Weekend is almost here, and we’re getting ready for a BIG weekend at Okaw Valley Orchard! 🇺🇸🍎

We’ll be OPEN all weekend, including Monday, with U-Pick apples, the Orchard Grill, fresh c***r, donuts, ice cream and all your favorite fall treats!

• Golden Supreme: sweet, juicy and mild with a crisp texture
• Crimson Crisp: crisp, juicy and sweet-tart
• Gala: sweet, crisp and juicy, great for snacking
• Jonathan: flavorful with a sweet-tart taste, great for baking and applesauce
• Ginger Gold: sweet, crisp, juicy and mild

We also have Apple 2nds in Gala, Jonathan and Macintosh. These are great for applesauce, baking, canning and preserving!

We’re so excited to be featured by WAND News in their latest “Around the 217” story! 🍎

The story highlights what makes Okaw Valley Orchard special: the time, care and tradition that goes into every part of our fall season. From hand-picking our apples and growing more than 40 varieties, to carefully sorting our harvest and turning apples into fresh c***r, homemade donuts, pies, dumplings, fritters and applesauce, so much of what we do is still done the old-fashioned way.

This year brought some challenging weather, including heavy hail, but our team worked hard to save as much of the crop as possible and make sure those apples still had a purpose.

And now, fall is officially here! 🍂 Our c***r press is running, the bakery is busy, and we’re ready for another season of the traditions so many families have made part of their fall.

A huge thank-you to WAND News for coming out and sharing our story with Central Illinois!
