Very well said had to share . Many think of a dairy cow in terms of what she can give them. Milk. Cream. Butter. Cheese. But what is talked about much less is what she TAKES.

Time and money are two that are not thought of until it is too late. (The purchase price is the LEAST you will spend on her.)

Another one is the emotional toll that dairy cattle can take on a marriage if one is invested and the other is not.

Bitter feelings can creep in faster than a summer thunderstorm hitting the Ozarks. Dark clouds of resentment can fester until they burst.

Dairy cattle will take you away from...

They will keep you awake at night sometimes. Your days may be exhausting as a result. This can be particularly detrimental if you have a young family who is also depending on you.

If you believe she will save you money that you spend buying milk think again. She eats a lot. Vet expenses can happen because they are accident prone animals. You must think about the rainy days. The cold ones. The days everything goes wrong. She doesn't care what happens in your world. She is DEMANDING.

Unless both spouses/partners are on board with the decision and understanding what she fully entails a dairy cow can take a relationship to breaking point.

If communication was already weak she will expose the cracks.

Both of you should be fully prepared for what she "is." Failure to understand that will have both of you selling her (or separating) before the first year of owning her is complete.

If you talk it through before and at least have an idea of what you're in for, you are much more likely to stick with her.
